How much of a difference is there between 3.73's as 4.11? With my tranny I run like 2500 rpm to do 55 on 3.73's. I couldn't imagine any lower gear ratios for daily driving.

I'd go with the d44s

I love my soft top. It would be nice to have a hard top for security reasons and it is a little quieter on the road but its just so much easier to deal with than a hard top

Im doing the same thing right now, my first thiught is that a 500 watt amp is barely going to be enough to push 2 10s thats assuming they arent 12s the other thing to consider is how much space you have, ive done the math and with the back seat in there is no way to fit 2 of anything (maybe 8s) with proper air space. But I also dont care for MTX all that much either. I have a 10" fosgate p2 and im looking for an 800-1000 watt amp. But if you want a system that doesnt sound like a bad starting place.

I have heard that the TJs are not a strong, is it because they have smaller shafts and less splines than others? But for the price unless he is a semi-experienced welder/fabricator then the cost of non TJ 44s would be extremely expensive.

I was assuming they had Tj brackets because he said they were under his buddies so that was a given. Otherwise your right. The rear is better, but the front rubi d44 is basically a hybrid 44/30 with the only 44 stuff being the carrier, gears, and maybe inner shafts. Maybe not either way once the shafts are upgraded both use the same weak 760 u joints which become the breaking point. This is true with a full width d44 as well but overall the axle is stronger from the tubes to the ball joints Etc. the rubi axle lockers in Tj are also weak points around 37s+.

I want it for the warm months so I don't have to spend 30 min putting it on or taking it off
