My rear axle is making the sh*itiest noise in the world. whenever I accerate from a stop it just like thumps over and over for a few seconds, like my right rear is jumping or sticking. not sure if its from control arms track bar, joints in the wheel hub or wtf is up. I have been looking at my jeep then reading on here and nothing. gona go try some more stuff. I dont think its in the diff, not coming from that area, so thats a relief.

I checked both upper and lower CA's they are tight. tightened up sway bar links but they werent loose, just a turn on them. nothing is damaged that I can see. track bar is tight. not damaged. I am thinking it could be the bearing in the wheel hub going bad? gona try to lube that maybe. but it probably needs replaced if thats it. I dont know what would be sticking causing the problem like that. its definitely gettin worse and wearing down. maybe the right rear ujoint?

Drop your diff cover just to be safe, my ford did that to me....found out it was a broken tooth getting caught in the gears and binding up... however I found out the hard way when it locked up on me at 70mph and put me into a 180, the truck was on 37's at the time. Ended up twisting the output shaft on the tranny and braking the housing because it locked up so hard..

Got it home dropped the diff cover and found a fat piece of pinon tooth laying in the bottom of the of the diff..

It has all the attributes, except for the shape. Must be a 35. Thanks though.

Ive got a 44 in my sahara, but I dont think the LSD... good question though. sometimes hard to tell unless you know what to look for. It does real good offroad though. how did you find out you had an LSD?

and turns out I was looking too hard. after checking everything cept the diff, I took my dad for a drive, then let him drive it while I laid on the ground and watched. I could visibly see the issue. a piece of my trail pipe was vibrating like crazy. I dont know if one of the hangers has worn its way loose cause it to get worse, but it was vibrating, and knocking off of my oem tow setup. the noise I thought was a strain/vibration from the axle was the muffle knocking off the frame... alot of relief there but also frustration because this has been giving me so much worry haha. got quoted for a brand new exhaust from the muffler back for 38 bucks for a glass pack or 50 for stock. whoop

I it's a manual, peel out or do a burn out and if both wheels spin then you have an LSD

Don't Always work, the jeep LSD is weak, both tires may not always turn. And a open diff can spin both tires as well.
Get the build sheet or look for the tag on the diff.

You can either get a build sheet or Jack it up and try to spin a tire by hand. When you spin one tire, if the other goes the opposite direction you have an open diff, if both tires spin the same way you have factory LSD.

Or you can do a burn out lol.

A lot of times a open diff will spin both from a dead stop if you stomp the throttle real hard, now if your already moving usually will just get the one tire fire.

Oh yeah, mine has the LSD d44 with 3:73's, on a hard surface the slip won't kick in, but get in the mud an it works like a locker.

They have really weak clutches, but it is better then nothing. Ya really gotta watch it on ice, my rear has kicked out on me more then once at 60. Pretty scary in a jeep on 35's when your not expecting it.

Lol keep in mind, that's if no one changed it before you got it.
However that would be the way it came from the factory.
I'll take your 4:56's tho lol. Need a set of those bad
