I think the rear bumpers are nice, but not a fan of the fronts. They just stick out too far for my tastes I think.

Forget charging the battery, take it to your local parts store and have it tested. Its probably bad, they don't just run down like that unless you left something on. If your gage stays to the left then yes you have a bad battery. That's why all your getting is the clicking sound.

Start there, hell you could even pick up a Walmart cheapo for 45bucks and it will last ya a couple years.

Batterys don't discharge for no reason.

I would take it to Auto Zone and get it tested but I kinda don't have another ride lol. But my dad was the last one to drive it that day and then when I came to try to crank it, it just clicked so idk. He may have accidentally turned the driving lights on and left them on. Not sure but yea the gauge definately reads to the left.

I say bad battery because it wouldn't jump start, as in it won't take the charge. Can ya get your self bump started (push started)?

Yea but I've never personally done it. I pushed it the other day so my dad could start it. But I don't really want to have the Jeep freewheelin' down the driveway and be destroyed if I screw up.

It's really not bad, old place I lived in was a duplex, down hill driveway tords the house, when the starter would go out we'd push it up the drive way and let roll back down. Pop started on the way down, the hit brakes real fast. Only ever hit the house once. Lmao

I'm a redneck, there's the right way and the redneck way. Either way I can fix just about anything, which way it gets fixed depends on the situation at the time. But ill get it done. That time I rednecked it and we were on our way, mom didn't care as it was still drivable and you couldn't tell. :Thumb:

Did you ever try jumping it? I missed that part of the scenario, I thought you just never tried jumping it yet.

anyways, I decided today was small project day. So im about to finally tint my 3rd tail light. everything else has been tinted for months. but not the 3rd brake light.

Ok so I just went outside and popped the hood. Gave the battery terminals and the plug into the alternator a quick check. Wiggled 'em a lil' bit, they were firmly connected. Was gonna go get the battery charger but was like "WTH, I'll try her again today". So I jump in and turned the key and she fired on up! I'm not sure why it wouldn't crank the other days. I'm going to go see if she'll crank again in a little bit. I think Ol' Yeller is playing tricks on me. However, when it was cranked and idling, the battery gauge read on the middle line but slightly off the left side of it. Half of the needle was on the the line, the other half was to the left.

hmmm, I guess it could have built back up some voltage by itself, but def sounds like your battery was low or a loose connection. Perhaps you wiggily the connections let it get a little better connection somehow. or it could have just been a fluke thing.

The alternator is a lazy sob, it will only put back in what it takes out, so if its dead you won't end up with a full battery by driving around, that being said most don't charge at an idle either.. put your charger on it and check all connections, even your starter wires. Grab a wrench, don't just wiggle for loosness. Other then that, head for the part store for a battery/alternator check....

Even if it is just a fluke, don't risk getting stranded.

Yep taking it to Auto Zone soon for a battery/alternator check. Speaking of alternators, mine is REALLY dirty and nasty looking. It's like a permanent light tan color from dirt I guess.

Ok I just went outside and cranked it again no problem. My dad has a cheap battery/alternator cigarette lighter plug tester that is plugged in. When I turned the key to "accessory" the tester thing's lights said the battery was "normal". When I cranked it up, I looked at the tester thing again and it said the alternator was "undercharged". The battery gauge in the dash was reading slightly left of the middle line (right off the left edge). Under careful inspection, I saw that the battery gauge needle was continuously swaying back and forth very slightly. Is that normal? I've never noticed it before. I know the cheap tester isn't as good as taking it to Auto Zone but it got me thinking that the alternator might be the problem as rockhard said. Also, I looked at the battery too and it had a date of 12/10 on it.

12/10 would be the install date I believe.

as for the alt, it could be going bad but, more than likely just sucks. you can do the durango swap I think, supposed to be good and cheap. or get another jeep one for about the same.
