Hogan's son seriously injured in supra crash.

Quote:
A high-speed car accident in Florida has left the teenage son of wrestling star Hulk Hogan seriously injured and a companion in critical condition late Sunday, police said.

Nick Bollea, 17, was the driver of a Toyota Supra that went out of control while driving at a "high rate of speed" about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, said Wayne Shelor, a spokesman for the Clearwater police in Clearwater, Florida.

The car "inexplicably left the roadway," jumped across a raised median and slammed into a palm tree just east of downtown, Shelor said.

"It destroyed the car," he said.

Firefighters had to extract Bollea and his passenger, whose identity was not immediately released, from the wreckage. Both were flown to a hospital in nearby St. Petersburg, Florida, Shelor said.

"They're both down there. Nick's father is down there," he said.
His passenger is said to be critical condition. Feel for both the famlies but cant say im not surprised that it happend. When wanting to weave in and out of traffic at high speeds its bound to happen. Never seems to be any cops around when someone is doing the 3 lane hopscotch but if I have a light out hes always behind me. =P

Quote:
Alcohol is not believed to have played a part in the crash. The crash seems to have been caused by excessive speed, Shelor said.

I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. The kid has built that Supra since he was 15(now 17) and is racing in the Drifting circuit. He's wreaked 3, yes 3, Vipers while drifting.

I just hope to god his passenger is ok and doesn't get back in the car with him.

Yea, I'm mainly worried about the passenger.

Hi speed is never the cause of an "accident," rather it is the inability of the driver to drive that is the cause.

Im 22. I've owned a 91 Mustang Notch 5.0, 86 Monte Carlo, and am now in the process of building a 82 Malibu street car. Never once have i wrecked a car. Some ppl just need to not get there lisence at Toys r' Us. There a time and place to screw around and its not on a public road.

My guess is if you are smart enough to recognize that, then you most likely wouldn't. It's the people who think they are superman who you have to watch out for.

If he has been on the Drift curcit then he can drive. The problem is he got acsess to fast cars of the race track and he is to immature to control the temptation to drive fast. IMO

My brother-in-law is 17 and his dad bought my 97 Cobra from me so I could buy my Jeep. He showed me a video of a burnout today (nice one though) and I just PRAY he isn't gonna be stupid with that car. I built it up, and used to race it. The last dyno was 350hp/345fpt

That's kinda what I'm afraid of. Until this point he has taken good care of it though. I did stuff like that with the car too, but I learned how to drive it, and I wasn't 17 at the time.

They were saying on the news this morning that he was racing a Dodge Viper and lost control at 85 mph. I have to say that in my day I did a lot of street racing in my Trans Am. I just got lucky not to crash. He can definitly drive, I have seen the videos. I agree with Chad P. He is a young kid who has access to fast cars outside of the track and just not mature enough to have one yet. Hopefully he will learn from this.

This is why insurance for young men is so freakin expensive! I remember back when I was a young man....Dear lord I'm old....I had just bought a new car and the insurance for it each month was more than the car payment! Because, they said, I was a high risk!

So...the moral of this story is.... Only kids with insanely rich parents can afford to do 85 in a supra and crash it with no consequence!

I fell bad for the kid, but frankly... If he survives this, maybe...Just MAYBE...He will have learned his lesson!

Besides that. He just single handedly jacked up the insurance rates for all of the responsible young people in America! I'm sure my eldest will appreciate that!
