Seriously though.... and I thought of this the other day... pulling into the driveway the postman had left a box at the front door... hit the parking brake and hop out to get it... got back in and left it in drive.... glag the brake held.... SO... why not have a deadman's switch in the drivers seat? if in any gear but park, no belt and no weight in the seat shut down???

How many here (auto drivers) can honestly say they have NEVER left a vehicle in gear and hopped out?

I leave it in drive and turn it off all the time but I usually don't get out. I always put my E-brake on before I ever get out tho.

Never, I do not leave my vehicle running if I'm not sitting in it.

Maybe I'll blame it on many years of driving a diesel and leaving it running

Nope...NEVER.
Putting the vehicle in park (auto) or neutral (manual)
and shutting it down before exiting,
is just a natural reflex.
At least it SHOULD be.

As far as driving a Desiel.....
If you're talking about a "Big Rig",
you're popping the Spring Brakes and getting out,
which is completely different.
Non the less,
you still can't leave it in any gear when you do this,
it will stall.

leaving your keys in, and running while your not in the seat, leaves you open to lots of bad things. not a good idea. me and mr sig are very good at what we do, but why put yourself in that position. not cool
