we call that the "fume stage" because its all about gas-fumes and per-fumes!

In my troop, there has been a standard set and everyone wants to reach it since all of my brothers and I did it. And think of it like this, the younger kids would look up to me as a 17 yr old that for his eagle years before and is still an price scout doing his part. The leadership as a elder is still there. No one said you stop scouts when you rank eagle. Those who continue in scouting will become leaders of some sort, whether it be a scout leader or just a helping hand. To me that is leadership just the same. The age at which you achieve the rank of eagle ultimately plays no impact on how fellow younger scouts show respect. At least from my opinion over the years in scouting and I'm well into my 20's now.

It is possible... I've met some. Your scout master conveniently forgets the time requirements of each rank

There is still a time limit. Or at least my troop still makes you wait.

with the time limits, it can be done in about 2 years. it just takes a lot of hard work. while i personally think it should take longer, im not gona bash this guy for doing it in less. think of all the work your doing for yours, now think of what it would be like to do it all that fast.

EDIT: i mean the official time limits set in the scouting handbook back when i reached eagle in 2008

My brother and I are Eagle Scouts. I am OA and not sure if he is. I got my in 02 and he got his a few years after. Neither him nor I flew through the ranks. I don't believe you learn as much when you fly through the ranks. Did summer camp every summer.

I went to Philmount in 2005 and over Mt. Baldy. Great times out there.

I went to Philmont this summer. Most amazing thing I've ever done in scouts. I would go back tomorrow.

I went to Philmont back in 04, 702L and I did the trek up Mt. Philips. It was a blast and I'd love to go back, but never had the time or money.

My group of friends in my scout troop have all been together for many years some of us since cubs! We formed a sr patrol last year and went to camporee and took home the buck horn!!

Sorry, I was a little confused, but I believe there use to be a time limit between each rank from scout through first class. I want to say it was like 3 months or something, I know I had to wait, but then after I already was life I believe, they changed it so that you didn't have to wait a time period in between those, just for the higher ranks. I remember when they changed it though, because it was like, well, I had to wait, why don't they. But oh well.

My favorite part, other than the sweet backpacking, was we had a group of girls we met out there that were our "sister" group as they did most of the same paths we did, so all of us boys were having a lot of fun trying to get their attention. Too bad they were mormon and asked if we were before hanging out with us.

And I don't remember how much it cost total, but I know my parents had to pay at least $300, but some of it was covered by a Burger King donation.

The first day on the trails, I walked right by a rattlesnake, like seriously within a foot of it, my buddy was behind me and heard it rattle when I walked past, he jumped so high. LOL

And because I'm a picture whore.

This is our group photo.

I said there were girls.

Airplane wreckage on Mt. Philips.

This was me climbing the bouldering wall. Almost made it all the way.

On top of the tooth of time with my best friend.

And wouldn't you know it, on the last day, I was hiking down the dirt path, lost my footing and my hand landed in a cactus, oh well.

If you want to see more pics, so I don't whore the thread, here's a FB link.

I'll have to get out some photos, we as well had a sister crew with two girls. And they were from around us. I still talk to them actually. Our ranger was a chick too. The bear population was bad this year no food. We encountered three and one ripped open a guys pack. Nothing in it but we had to be inspected by national counsel and they shot the bear. Oh the stories about Philmont.... Gimmie a minute im getting all nostalgic we found a rattle snake on the trail the last day haha good times.
