Now... I called it sherbert my whole life. And not until I got married did I get corrected. My wife had to point out that it is actually sherbet.

This is Jodi. She's just a little over a year.
This is her picture from when she was at the humane society.

A few weeks after I got her.

And her guarding the garage floor.

These are my two nerds. Jabbari the rottweiler and Indi the shepherd.
Jabber is 11 this year and Indi just turned a year old. Both were shelter dogs. Jabari came from www.recycledrotts.org and Indi came from the Humane Society.

I've been a rottie owner for many years with Jabber being my 4th. Indi was someone I couldn't resist once I saw her. Now we're a family. *lol*

She's got a twin here on the boards I see in activlydying's pooch.

Thanks for the comments we have a lot of fun. I need to get some video done of our new routine. Rain's best trick does not show up in pictures as he is now doing a triple. Which is catching a short throw, drop it catch a medium throw drop it, and catch a long throw all on the same run. It is pretty cool. He is so fast we may add a fourth catch to it before the next comp.

Lots of great dogs in this group and all seem to be a major part of everyone's family. I love to see that.

She is. And quite a leaner too. She was abandoned in my yard years ago. I'd lost my Rotti Alice not too long before Amee was tossed over my fence so I wasn't ready to have another dog. I called the Humane Society, but she was so negleted, I had to feed her. By the time they showed up three days later she had a name and home. Best dog I've ever owned, though it's fairly obvious that she was abused.

She's just a big old orange baby.

Usually the neglected animals make some of the best pets when you rescue them. We have rescued two different dogs in the past and they both turned out to be sweet hearts who love to be over loved.

x2. Izzy was one of four puppies - 2 males which were bigger and healthier - and 2 females which were both runts, badly abused and had scars from who-knows-what. They were all just dropped off at the APL. Izzy is the sweetest dog anyone could ever want. She is so gentle with the grandkids, even when they do things that might cause other dogs to bite. I wish we would have rescued her sister at the same time.

My mom sent me this in the mail and I thought I would share it with the other dog owners on the forum.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about howmuch she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey

got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:Dear God,Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven.

I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. Ihope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture

of her so when you see her. You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith.

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith
and addressed it to God/Heaven.

We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope
because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.

That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box atthe post office. A few days later,

she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, "To Meredith , "

in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, "When a Pet Dies."

Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope.

On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven.

Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being

your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in,

so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me.

What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

Love,
God

He gets to sleep in the good chair and it has a view... with a basket full of his toys nearby.

My Golden Retriever, "Jessie James the 3rd," rides everywhere with me. He love the Jeep. I have a harness that I buckle to a strap attached to the seat frame and adjusted so he can stick his head out into the wind, but not fall our as his great grand father did once. His great grand father was okay I guess because we were only going about 40 on an old country gravel road but he was a little more carefull fro then on. We were lucky.
