How you and your jeep met.

Let's hear story's of how you and your jeep met, how was your first date.
Mine was in 2007 just out of high school always wanted a jeep ever since I watched jurassic park a million times when I was a kid. Looking for a tj but only had $2200 browsing through the Detroit Craigslist I spotted her she needed a lot of work but I had to have her. Well test drove her and I fell in love, on the way home she needed some gas well I could not find the hole I looked around felt around finally got it in lol. After I filled her up and was back on my way This random jeep wrangler waved at me I was confused but waved back, a second one waved now I'm starting to get it. So about 10 miles from home I passed a old two track road well time to break her in turned around and took her wheeling for the first time 70k miles later I still love her. Come on let's hear your first time jeep story's..

Interesting thread topic.

I had given up all hope on my Bronco and was looking for a 4wd that I could wheel in, the top came off, had a manual transmission, and could take the family camping. A friend of mine in NYC found my Jeep in his local craigslist ad. A few weeks later my wife and I flew to NYC and drove it back to Kansas.

I had wanetd a wrangler for a long long time and finally decided to buy one (oct of 2010)

There werent any clean TJ's in Iowa...like, at all...so one night i got on the local jeep dealers website and saw the "new arrival" image next to a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with 55k on it...there was no picture, no description, no nothing...and it was 815 at night (the dealer closed at 9). So i jumped in the car, ran over to the jeep dealer (which was 30 minutes away) and got in the door around 850...asked them about the jeep and none of the salespeople knew anything about it.

Finally the sales manager said "oh, yeah, we sent that to auction tonight because it was a 1999"

i asked what color it was...they said "red" (which is what i wanted)...then i asked if it had a 6 cyl and they said no, it was a 4...i said "i'm still in if its a manual" and they said it was...i told them to get it back from auction and i'm going to drive it tomorrow...

Next day, it was in the lot waiting for me so i drove it....loved it...negotiated it...bought it.

Rest is history lol

Similar situation. Drove my 1994 Bronco for years, started having issues. Woke up one day and it wouldn't go into gear. My kid was like 18 months so decided to look for diff vehicle. Always wanted a Jeep. Went to local dealership. Think I lucked out. Traded in just couple days prior, they hadn't even washed or anything yet, was a 2001 Sport manual w/ D44. 3.73, soft top that had 1 owner (a woman who bought new from that dealership). She never took doors off or took off road. All service done at dealership. Less than 60K miles. Was like meant to be. I bought that day. That was Aug 2010. Paid less than $11K.

Didn't even have the dealership wash it.

We met online. I saw his picture and read his bio on a Wednesday night and on Thursday night he was mine. I had never driven a Wrangler, but had wanted one since I was in High School. Our trip home was eventful. Unlighted streets with heavy construction and narrowed lanes but he got me home safely. We had such a good time that night that I never drove my BMW again except an occasional trip around the block to keep things running.

Went to a Jeep dealership looking for a 2011 Yellow JK. I had not so hot credit at the time and they talked me into taking a 2010 blue one, which my wife would have liked. I said no worries its still in my range and still a Jeep, but not exactly what I wanted. Long story short They couldnt finance me so I left the dealership empty handed. Well on my way home I drove near the Used car dealerships area. And there she was, 2000 solar yellow sport, mostly stock with only a few minor appearance upgrades. Took one test drive and liked it better than the jk. Just felt less refined and more like a Jeep should feel (my opinion dont flame me for it). Lesson learned from all this... your Jeep will find you, usully not the other way around.

I dated a girl in Florida back in 2007 and she had just bought one. The first 2k miles was all me. I got orders to Japan and we broke up. I missed that jeep more than her. Anyways, in 2009 I got orders to San Diego and in March of 2010 my little Sentra was being a pain. I went to the Jeep dealer and they tried to push all these used and abused jeeps on me. I wanted mine to be fresh and new to the game. I fell in love with the Unlimited. Now, Im using and abusing her. Love u Charcoal!

It was a warm night...warmer than usual for that late in the year, I had just come out of a relationship with another from the continent....she had just had her oil changed....
Getting in for the first time was slow and I had to move carefully...she was smaller than what I used to, and I with a bad back...but once settled in, I knew we were meant to be.

I first met Junior he was hanging out at a salvage yard. He looked as though he went through a very bad breakup in his previous relationship. Well traded a nice shotgun for him. Was able to drive him home and wallet feed him back to health.

Met at a GM dealership when i was 18 my senior year of highschool, i was originally looking to buy an XJ until my grandpa told me there was a black wrangler that he had already checked out. I came back with him to see it and i was still skeptical about it. I took it for a test drive and that all changed, i fell in love. Bought it. The rest is history

We knew my husband was getting laid off and I was trying to cute cost of living. We have an F250 that I loved, but the payment was killing us. So I looked for something we could get a lower payment on. We decided that since the kids where all growed up we could go from a 6 seater to a 4 seater. We knew we still wanted to be able to play away form home one way or another.

So we opted to get rid of the camper and boat as well as the truck and get a Jeep. We looked on line and up popped an add for a sexy little 2005 in Washington. We decided to drive up and kick the tire. OK once we pulled in to the lot it was love at first site. I would probably still bought her even if she didn't start. I test drove her and brought her home.

We thought we could deal with one car we had for most of the last 20 years. Well after the first wheeling trip I told the husband he better get the camp trailer sold so he could buy his own as I was not going to share on any more trails! So we set a limit of what we could spend and we spent a day car dealer hopping Not near as fun as bar hopping! We ended up with a bone stock 91 YJ.

The day we brought Baby Doll home

how she sits now

The day we brought the Ugly Duckling home

How she sits today

and just because I love to see them together!

I seen mine on the side of the road at a dealership and stopped and looked at it(but when we pulled in I was in love with I told my husband as long as it was a manual I was done I would sign) well it was an automatic which I was bummed about! Well anyway we drove it anyway and I still loved it so my husband went the next day to see about buying it and the window had been broken out of it! Stupid dealership tried to say the heat built up inside and shaddered the glass but Im not that stupid it has a soft top how can the heat build up in. Anyway 3 days later it was mine and I am so glad I have her cause she is my baby!! 2006 Wrangler unlimited just a little lift and 35's but the lady that had it before me took really good care of it! Only had 16k miles on it. She is slowly in the process of upgrading a few things

Me and my wife were in an accident that totaled both of our vehicles ( not our fault). So I started looking on cl for a Cherokee because a lot of my friends liked theirs. I was a big fan of the straight 6. When I came across a tons of wranglers and I was hooked. I went out and kicked lots of tires before I saw the one. 260k but with 30k on a rebuilt motor. The 5 speed sucked me right in. Took it for a ride and did not want anything else. It runs mint and the body was almost mint (hard to find in mass). And now I have the jeep fever and my friends want a wrangler now. I will have a jeep for the rest of my life.

My first love, or as some may call it, my high school sweetheart, was a 85 xj with a 2.8l 5spd. we had our troubles, she cost me alot of money and was high maintenance but i still loved her. we were only seperated when a teenage girl texting didnt see me stopped at the red light. it was my Senior year of high school so deep down i knew this was a good way to seperate with my money pit.

while in college, like frat boys with sorority girls, i went through my fair share of flings, a different XJ for every day of the week it seemed like. a total of 4 in 2 years.

fast foward to 6 months ago and my life was changed for ever. fresh out of college, i was surfing craigslist and i saw her. my dream girl. the jessica alba of vehicles, a 99 tj, chili pepper red, hard top, 4.0 5spd, black rims, lifted 6 inches, 36 iroks. she was located 70 miles away from home, so i strapped on my helmet, mounted my 2003 gsxr 750 and went on a road trip. It was love at first site, we went on a date, she handled like a dream and i was ready to settle down with the jeep i wanted to spend the rest of my life with. i made my offer and the owner rejected it. i was heart broken. I got back on my bike and rode away alone and depressed. a week later the owner called and said he needed it gone and if i could show up the next day with the amount i offered, before noon it was mine. thats exactly what i did, and the rest is history. though sickness and health, till death do us part, i will love my wrangler.
