Talking hug a nurse

National Nurses Day is always celebrated May 6 and opens National Nurses Week, May 6-12. In 2007, National Nurses Day falls on Sunday.

The week-long celebration accommodates the variety of schedules nurses are required to work. National Nurses Week concludes on the birth date of Florence Nightingale.

National Nurses Day recognizes the contributions and commitment nurses make to quality health care in America.

It celebrates the 2.7 million licensed registered nurses (RNs) in the United States; approximately 2.2 million of them are employed as RNs.

In addition, 700,000 licensed practical nurses (LPNs), 600,000 Home Health Aides, and 1.4 million nurses’ aides comprise the field of nursing. (Sources: American Nurses Association, U.S. Dept. of Labor)

I know we some nurse Jeepers on WF......I want to wish them a great week

Nurses do deserve our respect. They have a job that I know that I couldn't possibly do.

There desire to help people overrides the gag factor. I mean this in the nicest way.

Nurses are the backbone of healthcare. That is fact!

Who wants to take bets that 'merijeep's going to end up with some sort of restraining order after this week?

(have a great week all you nurses in WF land, and if AJ here shows up and snags hold of you please resist the urge to call the police, Kat told him to do it)

I work in nursing homes and I watch these nurses work miracles everyday. Thank you all so much for the impossible tasks you accomplish on an everyday basis!

Giant hug for all the nurses out there. You are the backbone of the medical field.
And a special thank you to all the ones that have patched me up on many occasions when my stupidity kicked in.

From what I understand, novice doctors just starting to enter the field learn more from a nurse, than they do in medical school Dunno if its true, but I like to think so.

On this note, I would like to thank every nurse alive, especially those that helped my father beat 3 types of cancer, and make it through so many surgeries. Keep up the amazing work.

My wife is a medical social worker. She LOVES nurses!!! She has been in the dialysis field for 18 years, but is changing jobs this month. She will be working in the ICU Cardiac center at Arkansas Children's Hospital. She always makes it a point to "get in good" with the nurses!!!

I dated a nurse for 4 and a half years. So it's safe to say that my "Nurse Hugging" responsibilities are covered and then some. In my career field, I work hand in hand with nurses every day. And I mean NO offense buy the next statement... Every nurse I've ever met has had a "Type A" personality. Maybe that's why things with my little nurse didn't work out...See, I'm Type A too. Like putting 2 wild cats in a burlap bag. LMAO.

But seriously nurses rule! And soon I hope to finish up my education and become one too.... That is if I ever get outta my Jeep long enough to actually attend class.

Nurses, are the only thing, that bring civility, to a hospital stay, of any kind. Thanks to all of you, for the great job you do. I know it takes special people, to fill special jobs, and this is certainly the case, with nurses.

On a side note, Texapple, you need to get you, and your family back down here, to TX. That way, I can give you a great big hug, in person............

Thanks nurses!

Here at the VA we have our fare share too. 80,000 VA-wide. Mine were great when I had my surgery in January, just not very pretty.

So when I deliver food to the hospital I can just hug any nurse I want. Do you think they will know why? Do you think they will hit me?

They already give me a hard time because I almost knocked their Beta fish off the counter once.

Anyway....Have a great week Nurses. We all appreciate what you do and what you have to put up with.
