being a army mechanic full time for 14+years and still going, i must say that GM made a perfect vehicle in the HMMWV. think about it, the thing breaks all the time and parts are so expensive. what a great way to have job security. engine in the beginning was 6.2 diesel based off of a gas block. a starter that ways over 35lbs. and having to angle the engine just to allow room for the gearbox. oh and i love the fact that the entire thin sheet metal body is riveted together and then a fiberglass hood. way to go chevy. nice to see that your replacement for the willys jeep is twice as wide and half as good.

I was Navy ( JOOC ) and when I first got i to the field as a helo mechanic I had a Jeep, then here comes the Humvee, Hey! somebody stole my Jeep and replaced it with a great big target! Well it started fine ( once) and try getting one out of eth goo in the woods, trust me guys, NOTHING compares to a Jeep old or new.

I find this thread kind of odd because if we hate hummers so much then why should we enjoy looking at a bunch of pictures of them. I also think some of you are just asking for trouble parking so close to peoples vehicles in the manner that you are and then getting out and taking pictures.

That being said... I found this today and it reminded me of this thread so Ill just leave it here.

This one just had to jump in front of me off of a side street, when there wasn't anyone behind me. I had to slow down to make that right turn.

at least the jeep maintains the same platform thru-out the years. H1 Hummer original. H3- nothing more than the chevy colorado frame with a hummer top. Jeep is contant with the greatness. the way i see it the hummer is nothing more than a flattend out honda element. but on the good news, hummer is now being built in japan right next to the honda element. once again, Jeep started in america and is still built in america.
