Hunters : Scouting Time Again

Well, Small-Mart is stocking up on their hunting supplies. Must mean one thing. Buck fever is beginning to take hold of me again. Bought a tripod feeder and put it out in a new area today along with the scouting camera. Time to pick out the one I want when bow season starts in 59 days.

Unlucky me that is not my property, I wish it was. The feds set the hunting seasons for all migratory game birds and here in Pa we can begin hunting the residents soon...
I'm getting hungry

^^^ I am a waterfowl hunter, and I hate the way goose taste, and I have had it cooked abot every way possible, I don't shoot them unless I have someone else lined up to eat them.

On another note, was out all weekend plowing up a dove field. And rebel, I wanted to try to come to the buckarama, I normally make it, but was on a tractor all weekend. I guess doves are more important. lol.

All canadian geese are considered migratory we just have an early season to keep the resident population in check before the migrators start heading south.
Taste wise it is hard to explain but I love em, I guess it's like anything else, it depends on how you cook-em.

The hunt is the best,

set up before sunrise
sit back have a coffee
do some calling
.
.
hear some in the distance
..
.
call some more.
.
.
They're getting closer!!
.
.
call more
.
.
see them coming

.
.
wings cupping coming in for a landing
.
.
supper

Chicken on steroids, maybe. Dark red meat. More like doves in taste than chicken.

I was out in the woods yesterday checking my stand and putting out 3 salt blocks. Could be a good year.

Couldn't be any worse than last year. That tree was a little tough, and holy cow on the way out......all I can say is ouch and where are the tweezers?

Considering I grew up in a bow hunting family (still shoot my bow), I understand completely and it's still an odd statement. Nothing beautiful about dead. Not against hunting by the way, just saying.

Was. Never again. My pops was a taxidermist. Ain't nothing beautiful about a dead bit of animal on the wall in my eyes, but to each his own.

Tiny, its OK to feel that way about the animals You are leaving the qualifier "to each his own" so as long as you aren't trying to take away my rights I'm OK with the way you feel.

Oh, I don't have a problem with hunting in the least. I've seen feedlots, I'm sure every cow in them would welcome the chance to go up against a hunter in the woods any day of the week.

California has happy cows, I've seen them on TV. Not very bright though......kinda the dizzy blonde type.
