I read an article that explained the burning (I am looking for it right now). Evidently what happend was Muslim detainees were writing secrect messages in the korans and that the Korans were already all torn to hell, all bent up and heavily used for the secrect messaging. So the brass told the soliders on the base to burn them and give the detainees new Korans. this has been done hundreds of time all during the campign in Afaganistan and Iraq.

I've been to Afghanistan twice. It's lovely this time of year. Enjoy yourself and secure some heartbeats for me.

As others said above, and as a vet myself, just keep your head down and your wits about you. Thanks for what you're doing over there, life sucks living in in a war zone so just know that you and what you're doing are both greatly appreciated... more than you may realized. Thanks for your service and get your butt back here safely and intact!
