I got my mug back....

A few months ago, my Wrangler Forum mug disappeared from my desk. It was the best coffee mug I’ve ever had. It was the perfect size and it fit my hand perfectly. I searched everywhere in the office for about a week and could not find it. I wrote it off to clumsy cleaning people and started using a generic mug for my morning coffee.

This morning, I had an 8:00am meeting with some of the operations / tech people. When I walked into the conference room, I was stunned! There, on the table, was my WF mug full of coffee. It was sitting in front of one of the new tech guys, he started working here about a week before the mug disappeared. I told him he was drinking from my coffee mug. He said that he had been using that mug since he started here, he saw it in the break room and since it had his initials on it (his name is Bill Franklin), he decided to keep it. We spent five minutes debating why he had to give it back versus him keeping it. I told him it was made for me by a friend and had great sentimental value. He said that he really liked it and since he had been using it for over three months, he should be able to keep it. I said a few choice words to him, but then our conversation was interrupted by the meeting starting.

At the end of the meeting, he finished off the coffee, slid the mug across the table, and said “Here ya’ go a$$hole, I don’t believe it’s yours, but I wouldn’t want you to start crying about it!” I just said thank you and took it to the break room to wash it.

So, now I have my WF mug back and I’m very happy. Today started off pretty crappy, but getting my mug back made my day. I’m sitting here trying to decide what I’m going to do to Bill for coveting my mug for the past three months. I’m thinking large amounts of ex-lax in his morning coffee or messing with the food he leaves in the refrigerator, but I’m open to suggestions. Thoughts?

Cool that you got your mug back.

As for Bill.......I like the direction you are going with that, just hope he can take a joke if it gets found out you had a hand in it. Otherwise it could cause a whole different problem.

What an ass... glad you got your mug back.

What the hell gave him the right to take it in the first damn place no matter where it was? I hope you do the ex-lax thing and he poops his pants trying to get to the restroom.

Ditto. I wouldn't share the idea with anyone at work though. He deserves some messy shorts. Or, just give us all his email and we can bombard him with pics of us with our mugs and a sign telling him to buy a jeep and get his own mug.

I'm reasonably sure he knew it was yours. You don't take something that isn't yours and not know it. From the sounds of it, he doesn't care and seems to be a nasty type of person. Therefor I doubt any type of revenge is going to bother him. I known how hard it is to work with people you can't stand but trust me, this guy isn't worth losing your job over.

I'd report his thieving ass to management, or take him off property and teach him a little respect.

I've been going over this in my mind most of the morning because I just can't fathom how someone would feel it's their right to take something that's not theirs in the first place and how they could think they should continue to keep it after it's been pointed out that it belongs to someone else. The only thing I can think of is that he was embarrassed and was trying to save a little face, but what's up with people?

wtf, i love how he thinks he should get to keep it because he stole it 3 months ago. i would have hit him in the face. i'm pissed off for you and this guy's ignorance. i just cant stand a-holes and he's obviously one. ex-lax would be cool. or get tiny to make you a new one with some dog crap mixed into the clay (or whatever its made of) and you give it to him for christmas.... he'll never know

They had a thing on Dirty Jobs about making flower pots out of poo... Call Mike Rowe and tell him you need a coffee mug with the initials WF on it!

This is one of those things you should just keep to yourself...

dis·cre·tion /dɪˈskrɛʃən/ –noun
1. the power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment; freedom of judgment or choice: It is entirely within my discretion whether I will go or stay.
2. the quality of being discreet, esp. with reference to one's own actions or speech; prudence or decorum: Throwing all discretion to the winds, he blurted out the truth.

well, if you're going to admit it, I will too. Although when I read the name and realized the initials didn't match as stated.....I didn't give it a second thought. Didn't matter what the heck the fellow's name was - he took UL's mug.

maybe #1 discretion comes with age......

Hire Tiny as a consultant...BFG MT prints on his crushed Prius, Tiny knuckle prints on his Adam's apple! (Then force feed him the E-lax and coffee, leave him duct-taped to a chair in the board room)

Actually I was thinking if he wanted a coffee mug with his initails so bad I'd make him one with AH on it..... and then toss it through his windshield.

Say the word, Bri and I'll whip one up with a special message on it.

hopefully you didnt actually tell him it stood for wranglerforum did you? he might come here looking to get a spiffy mug with his initials on it and find this thread

I hate thieves.. so some sort of retaliation is warranted.. however it maybe shouldnt be discussed in public.

Thank you all for your support and ideas.

I never met Bill before yesterday; he sits on the other side of the building with the rest of the Tech people. I have to be careful because these people can impact my projects. I work for the county and things normally move very slowly here, I get my projects implemented faster because I'm on good terms with the tech people and they will pull strings for me on occasion. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that relationship, so anything I do in the way of revenge must not be traceable back to me.

Strangely, Bill never asked what WF meant or why I had a mug with WF on it. The guy strikes me as being a total idiot, and now he’s assigned to one of my projects. Oh Joy!

For now, I'm enjoying drinking my coffee out of my WF mug. Order has been restored to my universe. I will spend the next several weeks plotting my revenge against Bill. He'll never see it coming.....
