heh.. ill be clean =D i quite a bad habit that ive had for 6 years just to pass.. over a month and a half clean, taken detox, been working out to burn the fat, and drinkin a ton of cranberry juice..

oh its the apprenticeship i applied for in december.. 1000 people applied.. 200 were chosen to take a test.. and the top 10% were chosen for the interview (20 of us)

so ive made it most the way =p

one of the 6 guys who interviewed me said i had one of the best scores they had on the test in a few years.. (im guessing this is a good thing)

oh and they all know my current boss. my boss use to own the company that runs the apprenticeship, he sold it because his current business makes x2 the profit for him.. (i work for him because hes my best friends dad, and my best friend works for him too.. his older brother is in his last year of the same apprenticeship im going for)

plus my dads friend use to run the apprenticeship program before moving on to chrysler.. so i think i got a pretty good chance =p

oops.. forgot to say what the job is.. its a 5 year electrician apprenticeship.. starting out at 40k a year.. and when im in my 5th year of it ill be making around 70k a year.. by the time im done ill also be a certified welder.. so ill have 2 skilled trades to enter the work force with.. oh and ill be in a union =p

Good luck... I was a sparky in the I.B.E.W. local 3 for a short while... I started my engineering career as a co-op building industrial control panels. I miss the field work sometimes...

Watch your ass on the big stuff..Seen way too many nasty accidents. Electricity can be very unforgiving.

Good luck.

Welcome, to the sparky family......................... I am in my 27th year of non-union electrical work. I ran my own electrical company for 10years and I'm now a general contractor. You never know where the trades will take you.

found out today they are hiring 20 people.. guess more than 20 people were scheduled for the interview?

well 14 are for the 5 year apprenticeship, 6 are for a 1 year apprenticeship..

unfortunately i was selected for the 1 year apprenticeship.. im #15.. if ANYONE fails the drug test on monday, fails a drugtest throught my 1 year program, or doesnt show up to work more than twice.. i get bumped into the 5 year program.. (the guy told me they average 2 people failing the drug test every year.. and i dont take one until it comes time for me to move up into the 5 year apprenticeship)

oh and i get a bye on the test next year when applications come in..

ill be working at the getrag plant.. the new chrysler building going up in tipton indiana.. 5 miles from my house =p
