Int'l Scouts

Seen some talk on here about other off roaders. Hummers, Isuzus, suzukis.

What are your feelings on International Scouts? I've always liked them, I think its the whole convertable SUV thing that it and the Jeep have going for them. I'm not super mechanically inclined but have noticed that Scout owners like to work on their own rigs just like jeepers.

A guy down the street from me just replaced his Scout with a new FJ Cruiser (I had mixed feelings about it but he reassured me thathe was keeping the Scout and had a Jeep on his property in WV.)

my grandpa had a CJ5 and a scout and said that he would never trust the scout off road that it always broke down on him, idk coulda been a lemon, but they are cool looking, iirc he said it had a lot less power than his buick engine in the CJ

and i like FJ's for the sole reason that i stole about a thousand dollars worth of parts off of an abandoned one up in maine, besides that i think they're really ugly

Scout D44 fronts are common axles for swaps... but all together they look too much like a Bronco for me.

There are two things that I don't like about the new FJ's. #1 is the clam shell or suicide rear doors. I thought I would like that when I owned an Element and while it was nice for loading equipment. It is a royal pain when you want to drop off someone that is in the rear seat. #2, and I know they are trying to keep with tradition is that god awful White Roof. I love it on the vintage models. but on the new ones, they are just trying toooo hard.
