Is your Lawn as ugly as mine?

Just to be clear, herbicides/pesticides and most chemicals needed for 'cosmetic' lawn use have been banned here, so our lawns have suffered. I have creeping charlie and a ton of dandelions running through this part of my lawn. The other sections are better, but this is visible as it's right by the road.

We can only get 'natural' weed killers which don't really work so I haven't done anything in a few years. Weed and feed has corn gluten or something in it. Used to be clean and nice now it's:

Ugly isn't it

Anyone have homemade weed killers?

Just spray the good stuff on it in the middle of the night when your neighbors are asleep.

A green lawn is a good lawn in my book. Beats a burnt up brown one.

I use a grampa's weeder on the dandelions. It pulls the entire root out, so it won't return. Works great. YouTube video:http://youtu.be/dsaoyTgQeJkr

Great idea but for the OP's lawn, if he uses that, he wont have a lawn left lol

Agreed. That portion of the lawn was a 'bare' spot a few years ago. Replanted grass seed and there must have been tons of weed seeds in there afterwards. It was pretty bad. Sprayed it after the grass grew and it killed the weeds. They came back, as you can see.

It's green and when cut it does look decent. If you want a perfect lawn here, it's a lot of work.

I wouldn't worry too much about your lawn. My neighbor across the street is a really old but meticulous guy about his yard. He keeps watering his grass right in the middle of the day all summer long when the sun is at its hottest (as we all know you should water in the morning or evening). Well his lawn turned yellow to brown in no time flat! He ended up digging it up, turning the earth and replanted seeds. I just cut my grass for the first time this year and he still has lots of earth showing. By the time fall comes around, he might be able to mow it atleast once

I'd take a picture but he might come out and hassle me again lol

Nope...green grass as can be. But I have been hand pulling weeds from it for years. When a dandelion does pop up it gets pulled up root and all when I mow my lawn once a week.

I wish our tiny yard (townhouse) was green. Having a big dog and a small yard just doesn't work well...

Ours is green and weed-free as ever. No restrictions on chemicals. I've been following the Scotts weed & feed program with good results. With all the rain we've had so far this spring I've had to mow it about every 4-5 days. I guess it helps choke the weeds out.
