Itching

I can hardly wait for the snow and ice to melt and stream trout season to open. It has been since last October since the season closed and I am in deep withdrawl!

I get mighty happy when fishing for Brookies!!

I've got the itch, too. While our (Conn.) "traditional" opening day isn't until 19.April (3rd Sat.), Shad season opens 3 weeks earlier, on the 1st. And shad is my fish of choice. I love the feel of a 5 lb roe on my ultra-light and the sound of that drag!

It might be a little tough to see in this picture. but this is what i use for fishing the narrow, brush choked streams up here. It is just a 24" rod, used for ice fishing. An ultralite spinning real and either 2 or 4 pound test line. I have found that fishing with worms I am pretty much always catching fish, when I use spinners it is normally larger fish.
