So kind of an interesting story for you. (also I'm changing names cause I don't know if they want their real names used...)
I live in Beaumont, ab. Posted on here about 4-5 weeks ago asking if there was anyone who lives around here with a jeep who wants to show me some trails as I'm a new/first time owner.
A guy by the name of Steve De Vries (a good Dutch lad) said he lived about 15min away from me and so we met up couple days later and went to do some driving. Good time. Couple days later, I called him to see if he wanted to head out again on a Saturday. He couldn't cause he had a date with a girl he met online, so ok.
I was doing some finishing touches on my hard top lift in the garage later that week, so he swung by to give me a hand. At this point, my wife (maiden name is Wildeboer...so she's also Dutch) was in the garage with us. I asked him how his date went, and he said it was good. My wife asked if she was "a good Dutch girl" and he said actually yes, her last name is Van Drunen. My wife and I look at each other as that is her moms maiden name. So we asked him what her first name was, and he said Rachel.
That is my wife's first cousin. So a guy I met on here is dating my wife's cousin, and I met him about the same time as he met Rachel. But we did not know this.
Now it gets even weirder. My wife's grandpa sings in the Edmonton Christian Male Choir. They were performing in Beaumont today, so we went to watch and after her grandparents (last name Van Drunen) came over. So it's also Rachel's grandparents. Follow me so far?
Anyways, we got talking about how Rachel met Steve on a dating website and I met him on here all at the same time. I mentioned his last name was De Vries, and he lives near Beaumont. My wife's grandpa mentions that one of the guys in the choir is named Mike De Vries and he is from around here also. So I give Steve a call and turns out that Mike is his dad!
So not only did I meet Steve on here at the same time that he met my wife's cousin (Rachel) on a dating website, his dad and Rachel's/my wife's grandpa have been singing in a choir together for many years.
Oh and Rachel has a jeep also!
Thought it was a pretty interesting story and I hope it makes sense to everyone.
That was wild keeping up with the story, Only thing we have, is that it's a small town and almost everybody knows someone here. Can't get away with much before others know. Enjoyed your story, thanks for sharing...
Nothing to it but to do it.
SIMPLE AS THAT.

Last night I was playing an old online game with some people (all strangers), and one guy asked another if he was married to a girl named Rachel. He said no, but his uncle was. Turns out, a random guy knows the other guys uncle and his wife. Gave everyone a good laugh in the server.
Moved to NM 18 years ago. Sometime after that I met a guy from Chicago and we became friends. Turns out that he lived in a building that I hauled the garbage from, went to the Dunkin Donuts down the street and remembered seeing me haul the garbage there, went to the same Bluegrass bar that I did on Lincoln Ave, shopped at the same pharmacy I did, had the same doctor that I did, and we dated the same girl at different times.
Several years later a retired Chicago cop moved to the area and he too had been to the same places above, plus he arrested that girl that Mark and I dated for public intoxication on numerous occasions. The doctor that I used stitched up a knife wound on the cop. I was a part time cop and our police coincidental associations were just as numerous as our personal ones. Both of us worked the CPD vertical squad, him as an officer and me as an outside agency trainee. We both went to the same cop bars and I think I remember him as he was frequently in fights at most of them. Lunched at the same greasy spoons, hot dog stands, and diners.
