It's THAT Bad...

I went to the gas station today to get gas for my lawnmower. I went in to the clerk to prepay and said "Give me $5.00 worth of gas."

He farted and handed me a receipt!!!

Now if I trim my own trees (well almost) don't you think I would mow my own lawn?

Besides, I'm too picky about how it looks.

Thanks for depressing me, Dare. I heard they're expecting gas to hit $10/gallon by the end of the year.

If it gets THAT bad, all you will get for $5.00 is a couple of beans to make your own fart.

The school we're hoping to get my daughter into next year has it's own bio-diesel processing plant.

I think if gas goes too much higher, I'm going to be spending a lot more time walking or on my bike.

Yeah I remember the story. That's just more reason to pay to have someone do it for you.

my dads company started designing a new biodiesel system for the university of toronto (i think its there at least) two years ago, and their just getting the whole plant up and running.

back then diesel was about $2.00 so they made it so it would cost only $2.22 per gallon, the U O Toronto cant wait to get it up and running now!!!! haha

That's a university, though, Debruins. This is a middle school, my daughter will be going into the 6th grade.

Gotta love child labor! That's brilliant, putting grade schoolers to work in a refinery! Why hadn't we thought of it sooner?

It's not child labor, it's science. It's for the children! Won't someone think of the children?!?

i've got one in my garage i put together

i've got maybe $250-$300 in the processor and wash tanks.

i am doubtful that fuel will hit the $10 any time soon. the guy that penned that article is notorious for embellishing things. it is way too high for my liking right now though.

I was just in Matamoras last night to get a few tins of Copenhagen...the prices are freaking crazy.

The only states that have gas attendants are Jersey and (I think) Oregon. Maybe foxinthemud can shed some light onto whether or not Oregon has attendants, but I'm not sure.

Jersey has lower gas prices because the attendants are "trained professionals" at pumping gas. The actual job title is "Petroleum Distribution Engineer".

Because they are trained, the stations don't have to pay higher insurance rates because the customer isn't pumping their own...I guess living in a state that requires you to pump your own gas doesn't make you professional enough to know how to do it

It's unlawful in Jersey to pump your own gas...for real! The way I understand it, the insurance companies had a hand in that one. However, I understand that is all about to change...

You Jersey slackers are going to have to pump your own soon. Which means your gas will be cheaper yet.....

Yes, it is illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon. Every time we go to Oregon to visit my folks, I have to remind myself to stay in the jeep.

I was a manager at a service station for two years. Anytime one of the bastards called out, I pumped, so I'm pretty much set as far as pumping my own gas goes

WOW that is cheap !!!

I wish it was like that here in Uk !! I may sound weird saying its cheap while yourselves are having a rant about it being expensive.

In Uk we have hit record prices too -- Pertol is £1.11 per litre - which equates to $2.19 USD -

1 US gallon has 3.78 litres that means if you were to buy a US gallon petrol here you would pay £4.19 meaning $8.27 USD -- now thats is what I call expensive ! and our gallon is more than US gallon - a Uk gallon holds 4.54 litres.

I am so jealous to see your prices

and diesel is hitting £1.22 per litre !! ...

Right rant over ...

I said above assuming by "Gas" you meant petrol and not LPG

I know...I know....go ahead and say it.... We Yanks are spoiled with our gas prices.. Truth be told...Yes, we are.... I think it's fair to say, we all are. There's no shortage so I personally have a huge problem with the oil companies jacking up everyone.

I was in Austria and Germany a few years ago and that was a real eye opener for me in terms of fuel prices... I believe it was 1.35 euros/liter back then and the conversion was 1.45 dollars to the euro (almost $7.5 dollars/gallon)....INSANE!!!!!! No wonder everyone rides a bike and looks great!

Everyone has a six speed diesel turbo over there...I'd love to change my Jeep to diesel and do a veggie conversion.

yeah but most of that is going to taxes, so ur taxes on other things must be less, so it evens out mostly, its just ridiculous how expensive gas is now, but w/e it wil force people to find alternatives and maybe they'll start building solar plants and things, and realxing the dielsel laws
in massachusetts its illegal to buy a diesel car if the car weighs less than 5K pounds, or something, what we need to do is encourage diesel cars and biodiesel
and as much as diesel costs, per mile it is still less cause diesels get on average 35% better mpg
