So my cousin, Sherry(his jeep) and myself were "chased" by a big rig on the way home tonight. We felt like we were in the movie Duel or Joyride. Looking back it was pretty funny how things turned out.
We're on the road and theres this big ole' truck creeping along..ok maybe not creeping but going slow. My cousin passes him in his YJ and we get halfway past him and the man in the truck FLOORS it. Well my cousin figures he's almost by him and just gears down and gets around him. Next thing we know we look back and can't even see the orange strip of lights on the bottom of his bumper. We were like..
A few miles of this game of cat and mouse goes on as we both travel down the road at a somewhat high rate of speed. With the trucker(full load of cucumber crates hooked to him by the way) hot on our heels. We pull into a gas station thinking he'll go by and leave us alone..being well lit and all.
Doesn't work. He pulls in right behind us, well as you can figure another "explicative" escapes both of our lips and we hoof it out behind the gas station.
Theres a power line that leads right up to the place and so we figure he can't chase us through there. On the way to that path theres apparently a big friggin' bump and we jump the Jeep. Not high but we were in fact airborne. We make it to the path and decide that thats too risky, alone and at night so we take a side road to the main road we were on(with the headlights off of course until we get onto the main road).
Then my cousin hits it and changes gears so hard that he chirps the back tire into second. So then we park somewhere else this time where he can't see us and wait for him to go by. When he dropped me off at home I got out and exclaimed to Sherry that I loved her with all my heart, but needless to say next time I'm driving my own dang Jeep!
Lesson learned: Just deal with 10 miles under the speed limit even if you're about to miss your curfew..or just leave town earlier.
