The Fox River Jeep Club in Illinois just formed this spring/summer. In this time, we have cleaned a local park and collected a dumpster full!!! Last night we collected items for a local battered women's and children's shelter!!! Here is excerpts from the write ups on both as well as some pics!!! I know there are other Jeep Clubs doing volunteer work…… Post your pics or tell us your story!!!!!!!!!!! This thread is dedicated to the volunteer work!!!
Clean up: All the boats were fully loaded by the time they got to Buffalo Park so they stopped there to unload. The Jeepers were already at Buffalo Park busily cleaning so they helped transport the garbage from the canoes and kayak to the dumpster. The dumpster was loaded to the brim with two bikes, a man hole cover, two metal drums, lawn chair, plastic tarp, rusted grill, trash can lid, dirty diaper, sealed bucket, countless bottles and cans, tires, wood, metal, plastic, fishing line, broken glass, car parts and full garbage bags. Estimated amount in pounds at Buffalo Park from Jeepers and Paddlers = 800 pounds.
Donation drive: The Fox River Jeep Club (FRJC) has partnered with Home of the Sparrow (HOS). FRJC will be accepting donations for them at our next Cruise in at the Broken Oar on October 19th (event starts at 2pm Please refer to the following wish list items (see attached). HOS provides transitional housing and supportive services to more than 2,200 women and children. They operate transitional shelters in McHenry and Crystal Lake, they have transitional apartments in various locations, and operate Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores.
