Yeah MS went 180 on there no used game policy and don't need to be online 24hr BUT I wouldn't put it past them to change things around again...

PS I don't own consoles nor do I intend to buy one either but the way MS plays ball, I'd be very wary!!

Microsoft is in this for the long game. They just played their hand a little to early. They should change the name to "X-Box One80" after they went back on their original idea.

They've lost me as a future console buyer though. I'd rather buy into a PS4 this round and keep plugging away on my 360 till the RRoD kills it for good. I see no real reason to invest in a gaming platform that is easily replaced by a high end laptop I can use anywhere I choose for just as many functions AND the ability to get work done without needing to be online or watched by the Kinect sensor.

When the rolled out Windows RT and updated the X-Box dashboard to look just like it, I could see the writing on the wall for the next generation of the X-Box. This screams epic failure.

It sounded like you really wanted to stay with your friends, so I think it would benefit you to go with the one. Games are fun by themselves, but they are way more fun to play with friends.

They did. One of the PS4 announcements at the Sony conference was the final availability of the Cross Game Group Chat.

I laughed when I read that yesterday. Good for them... but now they have the permanent nickname of the "Xbox One-80"

All the "on the fence"ers I know are still saying F***K microsoft even though they pulled the 180. You still have a requirement for the always-on Kinect (which btw if you dont think they wont have some exploits on it, you are kidding yourself. And you may want to read the article about how M$ provides the government with all the zero-day hacks and exploits before they release patches.), the $100 price difference, the inferior RAM/GPU/CPU, non upgradeable hard drive, more expensive Live membership which you have to have even to stream netflix and... worst of all.... now a base OS platform that has been gutted and modified just to satisfy the gamers. You lose lots of actual decent features just to gain the no-online DRM check, used game sales... and for what?

What you gain:
No online DRM check (really good)
Used game selling ability (good)
No region locked console or games (good, especially for service members)

What you lose:
Cloud gaming (really bad, was a good vision and could have actually benefited the game community in the long run)
Sharing library (meh, no biggie due to the requirements to share outside of the family... but the 8 other family members that could share your library was huge for those with 4 consoles in the house like some people who have kids that all play CoD together or whatever)

So its a tradeoff... but they cant fix the issues I already mentioned....
$100 price difference
Inferior RAM with less to use for gaming anyways
Inferior GPU by quite a lot
Inferior CPU use due to the OS hogging almost half of the 8 cores
Always-on watching and listening Kinect
Non-upgradeable hard drive (500 gig will go fast when you have to install games to the drive, plus the OS partition that will require almost half.) Enjoy spending hundreds on a crappy certified XBOne-80 external hard drive.

In the end, the PS4 will dominate with gaming... and the fanboys will just stick with the Xbox One-80 because its familiar and people dont necessarily like change.

All the ammo that the xboxers had against the PS4 is no longer valid... so we shall see how it plays out in the end.

And just so you know, ive been a PS fan for a long time, but I am pretty neutral. I had a 360 and a ps3 and also game on a PC. Every console has its merits and I really liked that M$ was pushing more into the digital frontier, even if that meant they ignored the gaming roots. Had they done both at the same time... it would have been a killer console.

Yeah microsoft messed up. A full month of bad pr, bad word of mouth from everyone online and in stores, $100 price difference, clear difference in specs/preformance that developers have mentioned, behind in preorders, and now a track record of being wishywashy on policy.... they have to do a lot to catch back up now, which they may or may not. If they get on the ball they might tie sony now, but after all this I dont see them doing better/winning.

Anyone else clean there PC on a regular basis (as in actually blowing out dust and other debri?) I normally do it ever 6 months, but I was using compressed air cans. Just the other day, I decided to stop buying cans at 10$ a pop and invest in a 2 gallon oil-less air compressor for 50$ (it was on sale at Canadian Tire). And Boy now PC's running way less hot then usual (as I have over-heating monitors for quad cores, the MOBO and vid card).

Anyhow, just thought I'd share that info and remind PC users to clean there systems

I take the Dyson vacuum to it. Just hover above everything, it seems to work well.

I'd be worried about static discharge even if it was unplugged.

Be verrrrrrry careful with air compressors and invest in a condensation filter.

All the fans on my PC have that sponge type filter on them which traps most of the dust. I just pull the fan units out and blow them out lightly and reinstall them. Inside the case is pretty dust free which is nice. Big ass fans too... which keeps it quiet and cool.

Never heard of a condensation filter before.

I have a mesh screen at the front of my tower that is the first line of dust/hair/debris to get caught before making its way to everywhere else. BTW the air compressor I have is small unit, I highly doubt it will cause any damage and I keep the psi low anyways.

The filter I am talking about is also called a trap... but here, like this:
Air Water Moisture Condensation Trap Filter for Air Tools on eBay!

Essentially condensation will build up with compressed air in a tank and will blow out with the air... and we all know how well electronics and water mix.

Microsoft jumped the gun that's all...whether we like it or not that's the future for consoles. At least they had the balls to not only try it but to announce it first...all Sony did is watch the backlash and went the opposite direction.

To be fair, they hadnt planned on doing it, they had said always online and restictive drm Is something they had never even considerd. However they did hop on microsofts mistake to make themselves look like heros.
