Jeep Smartness 101

About an hour ago i was off roading through some trails about a mile from my house and got stuck I decided to back up and open my door to see better... bad idea... even in 4wd my rear tire spun and covered me and the entire inside of my door in mud

So what stupid things have you guys done while off roading?

I tried to stop a Jeep from rolling down a hill
the mirror nailed me in the face as it passed by
then I rolled down the hill while screaming like a 12 year old.

I might actually do that with a mask on since everything in my jeep is water resistant besides the amplifyer.

The kids love going thru mud without the top on. Unfortantly, they don't like to help me wash it out.

I will never understand why people do this

Dumbest thing I ever did offroad was attempt to drive through a creek without checking the depth... That was fun...

Well me and my friends are stupid, we were shooting in the woods, and it was about 90 degrees with 100 percent humidity so we took the top off. Instead of cleaning the carpet I just pulled it out.

Yea, I did this. I didn't realize how many tiny places a jeep has on it to get mud in... espeacilly when trying to get the top back on.

i used to have a solid top bikini top (the one i have now has little bity holes in it). i was at the coast and it rained like hell one night. when i got in to drive away, i didnt realized 20 gallons of water had accumlated in the center of the top. when i drove away, it was like having buckets of water poured on my head.

Not offroad, but in my driveway in a YJ my dad had. Got out to get the paper, put it in N instead of Park. Tripped as I was getting out and somehow fell with my foot under the Jeep. The Jeep was rolling backwards slowly and the front tire ran over my leg! Scared the mess out of me, but somehow I came away without even a bruise!

Driveway dips there and goes back up towards the road, so the Jeep simply stopped.

there is a mud hole up at rausch creek that i don't get a long well with. one time while trying to go through it one side of my jeep got hung up on a big rut and almost flipped it in the water. then, on the next trip out, i tackled it again. i hit the gas a bit too hard and slammed my tire into a rock and bent the rim. that scared the crap out of me.

I let my 6 yr-old son get in the Jeep with the keys. I was out talking with a friend when he started it up in gear (5 speed). Didn't realize the Jeep would start without the clutch engaged Had to run down the street and try to get in and stop the Jeep before it did any damage...Ran over my foot in the process. No harm was done, but it scared both of us to death. Haven't made that mistake again...

i thought it would be a good idea to tell my friend with a stock cherokee to go threw a mud pit... thinking that i was in my jeep that goes trew it with no problem, got stuck and had no cell service so we had to walk 3 miles in the middle of febuary to get someone with a truck to pull us out. i couldnt feel my feet or fingers for like 2 days. fun though

Pulled up to the gas station one time, left the jeep running, put it in neutral and forgot the parking break. I jumped out and just as I was walking into the gas station I hear "hey! your jeep!" I looked back and my jeep was rolling backwards across the parking lot headed straight for the gas pump, I ran after it jumped in, popped it in first and peeled out and drove away cause I was so embarrassed. Haven't been back to that gas station since.

I back off someone driveway, high centering it on a log. We had to walk 4.5 miles to get the tractor so i could pull it out. In the process i ended up pulling off some break lines. i didnt realize this untill i was on my way home going dont a hill. This wasnt in a Jeep but the only story i have.

Not a huge bonehead move, but on both of our (Briana's and mine) JK's, while taking the doors off, left the limiting strap off with the door hanging, and bang! Two matching dents on the passenger sides of each JK from the mirrors- D'OH! Mark W.

Me and two others took my friends jeep on a camping/road trip through the Georgia mountains one July. No soft top, so we just used the bikini top. The whole trip it poured down rain and never got above 60 degrees. I never thought I'd get cold in Georgia in the summer time!
