Jeep yj wont start after hosed down

Hey this is my first post on here so I'm hoping for a lot of positive feedback. I just washed my 94 jeep yj. I rinsed the engine down too since it was muddy. Now it won't start. I'm thinking the distributor cap? I took the plugs off and now it is sitting in the sun. And still wont start. Any help? Please! I'm sitting at the car wash and it's hot as hell

Probably and you'd probably be better off having this post in the yj tech area. But make sure your plugs are back in order or she won't run. And welcome to WF

Is there a certain order the plugs have to go back in?

Yup the proper firing order to time the spark to the top of the compression stroke to make the gas go bang and male her run

Like putting the plugs back into the head or the plug wires. The order of the plug wires is the important one.

Okay that might be my problem now, the inside the cap was pretty wet. It's dry now. Im guessing I put the plugs back on in the wrong order. How can I know the order?

On 4.0s the firing order is on the intake manifold casting on the top distributor I'm not entirely sure if you have the web see if you can't find a photo and I'm sure we have one running around here run a quick search

Good job I had a 2.5 in my 89 yj and the cap always got damp

Your welcome now as you learn you'll be able to help other jeepers along too
