Shooting a diamond infinite edge here. Love it since I go to an archery program on Saturdays and can crank it down since I shoot for 2 hours. Then I hunting season I can crank it back up.

NP, Jeeplover1!

To each his own. I own a compound bow and appreciate it's speed. OTOH, I like traditional bows because of their simplicity, not because they are finer. I simply find that they are easier to shoot straight "out of the box".

My Hoyt compound bow NEEDS contraptions like a stabilizer and string-dampeners. IME, the stickbows I've shot *could* benefit from them but just plain shoot better/more intuitively out of the box, even without them.

BTW, I shoot bare bow/instinctively: NO SIGHTS. I can, and have shot targets out to 80 yds. I will not attempt an animal beyond 30 yds; my ethics, my limits. (Not preaching).

I'd like very much to get another stickbow. And to my surprise, my son prefers stickbows over compounds. He's shot both and came to that conclusion on his own. If I hit the lottery, I'm going to hook him up, and me, too!

YMMV, and invariably will...

X2 no more than 30 yards for a bow kill too many things especially thebrush in south Texas can effect your long distance shots.

What are you shooting? I shoot a Matthews. Id say she's pretty fast. But I'm a daddys girl and he taught us never more than 30 so i respect that all of my shots have been kill and just never felt the need to step outside that boundary.

Its a PSE full throttle shoots 370fps fastest compound ever made. 40 yrds is nothing for this bow. Its almost as fast as a crossbow

Oh man I haven't shot in a long time. I just have a little Marten Phantom II. Had it for quote a few years, though I've never taken it hunting. I never seem to have the time

Nothing like bow hunting. 2012 had a bear tag...something about hunting an animal that could er would EAT you, with a stick and string. I had a sow at 12 yds full draw and her damn yearly cub sticks his head up...ugh! Next year!

I always shot a little bit here and there when i went to my Uncle's house growing up. I just got my first bow a little over a year ago now. It's a PSE Brute X and I love it. I haven't taken it hunting yet, but i plan to next fall. I never made time to get my license this year. Until then, I'll just keep working with targets.

Mathews Heli-m for me. Love the thing. Had it two seasons now. Still waiting for its first kill.
Might have to lower my standards a little next year just to take one with it.

Just got my new Matthews Jewel on order. Especially being a female best bow out there plus it was time to upgrade my old 90sFeathermax. Getting my son a mission still made by Matthews he is really starting to enjoy shooting which just adds more excitement for me. Hopefully he will be ready for his first buck this season.
