KITT Is No Longer A Trans Am

NBC officially announces Knight Rider, new KITT unveiled!

Quote:
NBC held a press conference today officially announcing the return of Knight Rider to network TV. The new show will debut as a two-hour movie on February 17th with a cast that includes Justin Bruening, Deanna Russo, Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Bruce Davison. Also confirmed is the return of David Hasselhoff in the role of an elder Michael Knight. Finally, the character we care about most, KITT, has been officially confirmed as a Ford GT500KR. The voice of KITT will also be none other than Will Arnett, husband of Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler and ex-alum of the TV show Arrested Development.

There will actually be three versions of KITT in the show: a 540-hp standard version of the character named KITT Hero, a super high-speed version that's heavily modified for combat called KITT Attack (click here to view his body changes), and a driverless version called KITT Remote. According to NBC, KITT in the modern era is a supercomputer capable of hacking anything that plugs into a wall, and thanks to progress made in the area of nanotechnology, its body can shift both its shape and color.

Follow the jump for the official press release from NBC, including a brief rundown of the premier's storyline.

Now we can make fun of the Mustang for another reason.

I agree - but that is a conceptual drawing by some one at Car&Driver that was done a couple of years ago.

Sad to see a mustang as KITT, I have nothing against Mustang but KITT never was a Mustang.
It should be any prototype from GM at least.

If the people don’t remember KITT was a unique car so the Mustang its so common now days.

It has copious ammounts of HP but it weighs quite a bit.

I'd still rather have an '03-'04 Cobra. A little less HP but ditch the IRS and replace the SC pulley with a smaller one and you have a track monster for quite a bit less than the pricey GT500.

I dig the new Mustangs but the $ to HP ratio is a bit off for my taste.

KITT was a run of the mill Trans Am... nothing unique about it at all.

The new KITT traded the Mullet for.... a Mullet.

....because it's a Mustang? I just don't like Fords. Never have and don't think I ever will... nothing but trouble with everyone I've ever touched.

I've been real fortunate with Ford products. I am not brand loyal by any means but I love me a Mustang and always will.

Not a huge Ford person myself, but my next diesel will be an Excursion.

Damn, sad to see the new one a mustang. Poor kitt. However that drawing is very doable. Saw the production model Camaro at SEMA and also saw a concept for 09 possibly of a Camaro convertible. Extremely nice lookin rides.

Nope, just a stock 82 Trans Am with a new nose.

The major exterior difference from a stock Trans Am is the nose, which was redesigned in order to accommodate a cylon-like red scanner.

I saw the REAL KITT at Universal Studios about 15 years ago. I think it was just the stunt car version as the insides werent all done but the outside was KITT down to the red light thing.
Its kinda like BattleStar Galactica, the new version is just an abomination, an insult to the original and I probly wont watch it, especially if KITT is a Mustank. You just cant top fro-haired Hasslehoff in a black leather jacket beating up guys in bad suits.

Ford payed the most $$ to the NBC execs to have there brand up front. Has nothing to do with loyalty, or with what "should be".

the '69 or '70 Boss, Mach, or any other "fastback GT" version of that Mustang always was my favorite muscle car, and I love that the newest version looks so like them. Don't really care about the reliability or what makes the best performance, just like the looks.

Has any body mentioned that David Hasslehoff and KITT are as gay as the whole Disco era.
The man can drink though, and eat burgers.
