Lacrosse

Who all plays lacrosse or is involved in the lacrosse community? I started playing last year and I've played year round. I love the sport so far. Anyone else out there?

I've played lacrosse for 14 years; it's a fantastic sport. I currently coach a high school varsity team.

Sweet, I live in a really small town in NC and we made up a team. In the spring we played about 10 games against other high schoolers but our team consisted of a bunch of high schoolers and 6-8th graders. It was tough because some of the other high schools just demolished our middle schoolers lol.

It's great that you guys were out there making it happen, though. What position do you play? My 15-y-o is a bro and he loves the sport. It makes stocking stuffers easy - mesh, shooters, and sidewalls will keep him quiet for days.

There are lots of websites that sell pre-packaged string kits, but you can get all of the pieces separately to change it up. Last year I got my son a box of stringing supplies and he made a few dollars stringing heads for his friends. Now they give him the head and supplies and he charges a small service fee. :-)

I thought about doing that one time but I'm just too lazy hahahaha, i strung a pita pocket a couple weeks ago with some of my friends spare nylons and it didn't work for me. Every time I threw the ball it would hit the top of the head. I would post a picture of it but it won't let me post pictures from my phone

It takes a lot of practice and a lot of YouTube. His balls usually fell through the bottom and hit the shaft.

Did anyone ever notice that it's difficult to discuss lax equipment without it sounding inappropriate?

It is especially difficult in school lol. You have the head, the shaft, the butt, and the balls. My Spanish teacher told me to stop talking like that when I was just talking about my stick! And I lose all of my balls in the lake or the bushes. I only have one left hahaha

I just had to play a game 2 hours ago against a team called "expired". They were all 35-60 years old! It's a u-15 league and I'm only 15! They talked a lot of trash so I had a ground ball war against some huge old guy.. I won that but got called with a slash. I wasn't going out without a fight

The Camp Pendleton commander (at that time) was a huge LAX fan and wanted to put together a team to play promotional games against colleges or leagues.
It was a great idea but never got the approval needed to go further.

That's too bad. My son wanted to play in college, but his high school career is screaming military. His brother is a Major in the USMC, so that's where he'll want to go. I thought that might give him some hope of playing after high school. :-/

I played in high school then played at the club level in college. Too old to risk getting hurt at this point in my life. Still love watching it whenever I can find it on TV.

Played all my life, I grew up in the sport. Most of my siblings have played, D1 level and one for team USA. I know some people in the lax hall of fame and some at the pro level.

Wish I could say more, but unfortunately this is a public forum and anyone can access it. Some people prefer to have privacy. But yeah, it's pretty awesome!

Played intramural in college in 70's but son is high school goalie. INSANE. Standing there waiting to get hit by a ball at 80 mph with no pads. I'll play attack thank you...

LAX goalies are completely nuts. The goalie for my high school team was in a near-fatal car accident in October of 2010, as a freshman, and insisted that he would be ready to go by March. I'm glad he was, because he was the only one that wanted to play... He's not right in the head, but a good kid.
