Larps Meigs County OH Summer '07 Tour

i have posted this on my other boards and thought i would share

i picked up a county road map of Meigs, Gallia, and Lawrence counties. i have started with meigs (where i live) and taking highlighters i am "rating" all the little back county roads

GREEN = good road
RED = barely a cow path
YELLOW = OK road, paved but with patches ect..

so my goal for the summer is to have a color on every single road on the map. at least Meigs and alot of Gallia. so in turn i will have ridden every single mile of every road in my county at least once.

i have modified my plan a bit. I'm gonna avoid township roads if i can. SV's do not like gravel.
anyway here are some pics i have taken on my wanderings so far. mostly they are just old forgotten places that interest me and i will stop for a stretch and a smoke.

old foundation along a creek on bashan rd

another foundation and beams at rt 681 and bear wallow ridge (found it when i stepped in to the woods to piss. lol )

burnt down house and buildings out on zion rd

this was in one of the buildings

these next few are special to me. it is a wood chipper mill that my grandfather and 3 of my uncles work in until it closed in the mid 80s. i can remember going out there and seeing them when i was a kid. my grandpa lost 2 fingers and part of another to that place.

OSHA approved :P

one of the loading chutes

evidently we had a Triumph dealer at on time

few new pics from tonights ride. didn't go far or take alot of pics. too tired from work.

old house on star hall rd

done a little bit of trespassing on old coal mine property to get these 2. but hey the gate was open (IE gone) and there was no NO TRESPASSING sign (it was laying in the weeds on the other side :p )

foundation on carpenter hill rd

a house and 2 stores (i guess) in Carpenter on rt 143

there is a set of RR tracks there and looks like maybe part of a switch yard. I'm thinking it used to popular stop at one time.

My father also does that, but hes also travels out from Maryland (starting in central MD) and goes out into WV/PA/VA area looking for good riding spots. He also knows all the good riding roads in Wierton, WV and near our family farm in Tyler county

Anybody else hear the theme music from deliverance during that? Just kidding. It's a great tour thru real america. I've wondered about so many buildings like that running thru NW Arkansas on the way to our lake house.
