Cool Larry want (no, Larry NEED). Please donate

So, yesterday I'm on the way home with the wife, minding my own business and I come across the next new toy to add to the stable. Only problem is that I don't have the funds on hand, so I'm going to need everyone to start ponying up! C'mon, it would be a great thing to do for me and you KNOW that I deserve it!

What could be more perfect for my lifestyle than a M35 A-3 6x6 WITH a JEEP TRAILER included? NOTHING, that's what!!!

By the way, it looks better in person!!

I'll set up a donation site on paypal! Please help!

I'll donate a month out of every year to visit you in SD to help take that thing camping. It looks like too much for you and the wifey to handle alone, so I'd be happy to come along.

They probably didn't give you specialty guys too much diesel repair training.

Cash works instead!

You're right, I don't know a thing about diesel motors other than how to change the oil/light maintenance on small diesel inboard boat motors. I don't think that would help. The check is in the mail....

A deuce and a half with a cargo-container pickup camper on the back?

I think you're forgetting how high a percentage of your adventures will be on pavement.

Why not go for a regular camper, put it on an F350, and tow your Jeep? Cuz' that rig looks like a spleen shuddering, headache inducing, fuel guzzling low-speed pain.

Heck Geoff... Half the fun is getting there! Besides...

You know Larry... Sometimes if you check DRMO's "Government Liquidation" site, you can bid on those. Every once in a while you can find one set up with either a Commo Box or a Mobile Repair Shop box (I forget the proper Army nomenclature). These things are pre-wired with breaker boxes, lights and what not. Most of the time they are reduced to just a big empty box. 2 cases of beer and some lumber and we could build you a kick ass camper at a fraction of the price.

It ONLY 150K.

Geoff, I'm fairly smitten and I don't care how much time I spend on the pavement!

That thing is just plain COOL!

Ok, so I just got an email back from my Dad.

I sent him the info on this and POLITELY asked if, well you know, if he and Mom could perhaps expedite the inheritance. Don't worry, he's not too sensitive.

Answer:

"Too bad, Mom and I just bought a matching set (hers is pink). Mine is stuck out by the pond right now. Oh, and you can forget any inheritance sonny."

So, there goes that. I'm gonna need you guys to re-double your donations!!

I have to assume you've driven a duece and a half before. Now that I've made that assumption, I can't imagine why you'd want one of your own. I've driven one that was a fire department tanker, and although it was fun, I wouldn't want to take it cross country. Very, very loud, no climate control of any knid. (unless you count the windshield folding out as A/C) Dangerous to your fingers when off road due to no power steering, ect.

It would certainly be right at home with all the Hummers at the mall.

Bet it would be a hoot to drive down the highway. Have to agree that half the fun is getting there..

I've driven M35's...or armoured one's thousands of miles...not that bad if your young. If not it takes a beating on the ol' bones.

They do sell these in government sales and liquidations. For ALOT less. Just have to build the inside to your liking. Also...if you don't know how to fix much on a desiel engine...don't get one. They break down every other day it seems like. I get tired of fixing the little things all the time on them.

The trend now is to "bob" the back end of those monsters.
I imagine it could still move around a small house.

Some of these might be problematic if you want to go adventuring in another country. I don't know that I'd try to drive this to South america, for example. The border crossings might get sticky.

Ahhhh.....the SPORT model. Very nice. There is a guy on Pirate4x4.com that builds and sells them. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Hmmmm. I'm beginning to see a trend here

Most folks don't like this because it's: loud, uncomfortable, expensive, fuel-inefficient, and maintenance heavy?

Man, I thought I was on a jeep forum!
