Keymo I wouldn't wanna run ATF in my oil, maybe slick 50. That little tool you found costs the same as an axle shaft.

That's what I was thinking... Seemed fishy to me... That's why I figured I'd ask for another opinion on that one. Haha! What's "Slick 50?" is it at pretty much any auto parts store? If I need to run to the store I might as well get the parts I need to my J-truck as well. Haha!

Hahaha! Evidently! Whats even worse is - that tool or a new axle shaft cost only about $20 more than MOUNTS for my Hi-lift... What the fudge...

Slick 50 will be at any auto parts store, if they don't have it just get a quart of 20-50. Your high-lift mounts sound like a rip-off. Since you & Josh got to put up pics of your toys I kinda feel left out.

And my poor 12 second truck I traded for the Jeep.

Also - do you know what could cause black soot - yes, soot - so come out of my tailpipe? (No muffler or cat. ) The exhaust isn't black... No weird smells other than SOMETIMES I'll think I smell fuel after parking/shutting her down... I just notice after it idles for a while in one spot there will be some dry (almost ash-like) black stuff on the ground under/slightly behind the tailpipe on the ground.

Yesterday I re-tuned the carb - seemed to be running a little rich - and now the screws are tuned at 1.25 turns out (from being seated in the carb). I THINK I could lean it out even more... But at about 1 turn out my YJ idle started to stumble down so I turned them back out another quarter turn... (Also - I HAVE to run a little rich since it's so cold out.)

Cool! I'll write it down. I'm going to see what the other guy says about when he ran ATF in his as well. Will I need to do an oil change after running the slick 50 for a while? Or will it be okay in the oil? I have a while before I need to think about another oil change.

Eh, kind of... Haha! But the cheaper one all looked chinsey. Figured I'd spend the money for the best model I could. I honestly SHOULD have just fabed some up for myself. I think I could've at least EASILY done all of the metal work. The welding would be the only part I'd be scared about. Haha!

That's a nice looking bike you have there! VERY nice looking!

Wasn't the trade worth it though?

I wouldn't worry about the soot, it's just carbon and it gets worse the richer you run. It comes from unburned fuel, quite normal. If it's making a mess on your driveway spray it with some brake cleaner and hose it off before it dries.

I'm not going to link this on here but go to youtube and check out Jenna Marbles new video "thanks Obama'.

Thanks! I'll probably be going to Advanced Auto too! Haha! It's only a few blocks from my house - where all the other ones are half-way across town.

Cool! That's what I was thinking. It's just good to hear it from another person. Once again, I asked at about 2PM today in the YJ threads and no one has responded... That reminds me - I should probably gap my plugs as well. I upgraded my YJ's ignition system last summer but just put the standard plugs back in when it's recommended you gap them out a little - I think to .038 or something (need to look it up to be sure). You think that'll help as well?

I could care less about the driveway to be honest. Haha! Though that might be good to know for my Dad's garage if it ever happens when I'm pulling it in or leaving there.

Haha! I'll go to the YouTubes now.

Just follow the directions on the bottle.

I just put my Hi-lift under the backseat.

Yeah the trade was worth it. The truck had 160k mi. and was needing it's 2nd set of injectors which run $2800 just for the parts - AND I just got 3 tickets so enough hot rod pickup for me. Got $8500 for it and was happy to see it go.
