No. I was in 4th gear at about 5500 rpm's, 5th gear had no change. I think the 3.73's might be a little tall, but 20-21 mpg's I'm not gonna change 'em.

Check your cluster. Make sure everything is connected good and tight. I bet you have a short. Had a similar thing happen when I Pulled the cluster to replace my lights with LEDs. Then I plugged the cluster back in my YJ was DEAD. Pulled the cluster again, pushed the plug harder and she was good!

I thought maybe you had your rpm at the max, I didn't realize you had more left. I didn't pay attention

Oh! Dang! Sorry... Didn't realize that. I thought it was something you did right before the dead condition. Check for a parasitic draw of some sort. Could be really annoying to track down though...

Also, do you KNOW your alternator is working properly?

I would think if it was good for a couple weeks and then you had this happen it wouldn't be a bad connection. Especially if jumping worked for ya'. Battery and/or alternator, or a parasitic draw would be more of what I would lean towards. Battery and alternator would be easy - drive around for 30mins (to be safe) and then when you're HOME turn her off and check the battery voltage. If that's good then your alternator is definitely charging up your battery.

Then for the draw headaches... For which Lee sounds like he may be a better source of info. Haha!

Oooh! Wow! Yeah - check your cluster then too! Could have a wobbly terminal cutting power to your system while "on"/cranking...?

Edit:
The extra juice from the jump may have been enough to overcome it. Im no master electrician or anything, but I've seen some weird voltage problems with both my Jeeps that jumping "fixed" but only for that start.
After I "nuttered" my YJ I didn't have a connection correct and it wouldn't crank or anything without a jumper on the battery. When i fixed the connection she was golden.
