Thank you, the sun and warm weather is so nice. I think Ponce De Leon was right about there being a fountain of youth down here. Must be the salt water and sun which is hotter than in VA Beach, or at least it seems to be

Ponce De Leon was just a money maker. That fountain of youth is a tourist trap. I've been there and I keep getting older....

So, a little story...

I head out to the west end part of town, known here, as The West End or Short Pump. I was at best buy looking for a new computer. Well i know how short pump works. The officers sit hiding, while one stands out on the corner and watches cars. If you run a yellow light, they nail your arse to the wall. They have them at almost every stop light, in both directions on the main road. I had never seen this in action until tonight. You cant see in the picture, but there are 5 officers sitting there waiting for a car to run a yellow/red light. They get a lot of people doing this. Didn't get the 2nd picture of the 4 sitting in the grass in the other direction. Its crazy....a lot of wasted money

So, Sparky, did you run the yellow light tonight? If not then maybe not such a waste after all

They wouldn't waste the resources on running a "yellow". Running a red, I can see that. On the other hand, if you try to make a light with that many cruisers at the intersection...you fully deserve it.

Must have gotten a lot of complaints, plus it's safer to do that kind of enforcement with a few people because normally in order to see the light changing you have to be somewhere that might make it hard for you to safely stop the person, so working in pairs can be better.

During my Military Police years, we had a gas station/Class 6 store that had an exit that had No Left Turn signs. People would always turn left and get into collisions.

So as a test, I would stand in uniform, leaning against the sign while another officer stayed parked in the lot. Drivers would pull up with their left turn signal on and a confused look on their faces. I'd point at the sign, they'd say "oh s@&t" and turn right.

One COL pulled up while I was standing their, rolled his window down and told me how great it was that I was enforcing the sign that so many violate...then he turned left.

My partner and I pulled him over and he was pissed. "Why'd you pull me over?" He asked. I replied "why'd you turn left??" He swore to himself repeatedly and accepted the ticket.

Good point. I know when they set up speed traps in our area. They usually have one with the gun while others are down the road waiting. Sneaky bastids. kidding

That's good. I didn't think you'd be a light runner anyway...maybe a blue light outrunner but not a stop light runner

Nope, if you are in the middle of the intersection when it turns red, you are pulled, of course the intersections are so wide, you cod be crossing the line when it turns yellow and it will be red by the time you hit the other side. So i mean it could cause an issue of people slamming on brakes when as soon as it turns yellow as to not even try even if they were crossing the line when it turned. And of course the amount of traffic that goes through there especially on a Friday, people get pulled all night long for running yellows
