I just sold a '11 chevy half ton 2wd w/ the 5.3 and 6L80E that was getting 20-22mpg's

I decided to just copy ALL of your suggestions into my "YJ Needs List" and then give ALL of them a good, solid review and see what I want to keep/remove. I have a "draft" saved for each Jeep (and one for my Buick) that has lists of things I need/want to do to them.

Interesting... I'll have to check out the V-8 then... I just remember googling the GM crate engines and the cost of a brand new V-8 was INSANE compared to a V-6... But, if I was swapping the 4BT, I'd be going used for sure... So maybe I should give the used 5.3 a look-see.

I definitely like my seats. They'll get redone eventually... Right now I have towels over the @$$ part because the material is wearing THIN...

Me too, it'd be really exciting if it did.

CAD is seriously SO EASY once you get the hang of the controls. My "intro to CAD" class has us designing engines and everything - with guidance, of course. My school got a plasma cutter my senior year - but it was the semester after my "independent CAD" class was over... I was pretty upset.

I had a diesel, loved it but they're expensive to maintain.

Find a wrecked Yukon XL/2500/Avalanche and drop in a 8.1L 496 big block with the Allison transmission

No, I haven't ever OWNED one, though I've driven AND worked on them. They're a PITA to work on - I know that... Well, I feel like they are. And the special tools and all that crap. That's what makes me kind of shy away from the diesel idea... But I still can't get it out of my head... Especially after reading 3 or 4 YJ 4BT swap threads... So tempting!
I've just always REALLY liked diesels... Don't know why.

I'll have to make a call or two on those then! We don't have any U-pulls around here... But there's a junkyard less than a mile from my house! I also know a guy with a body shop (where I originally did all of the work on my YJ) that has a few small "junk lots" that I might be able to get stuff from for SUPER cheap - he's been friends with my Dad their whole lives and he likes me. That's where I was originally planning on getting the 8.8 Axle - I'd get one from him for DIRT CHEAP.

Noooooo! the 8.1's have more issues than Danny Bonaduce.

If you want a good big block you can get the 502 ram jet or the awe inspiring ZZ572.

The LQ4 6.0 is very nice, find one from a wrecked Caddy Avalanche. Forgot what they called those???
