Email I just received. Our country cutting spending where it really needs it...

Leaders,

Due to the current fiscal challenges, the Secretary of the Army has approved the suspension of Tuition Assistance (TA) effective 1700 EST Friday, 8 Mar 13. The suspension applies to all components and will remain effect until the fiscal situation matures.

Effective 1700 EST 8 Mar 13, Soldiers will no longer be permitted to submit new requests for Tuition Assistance through the GoArmyEd portal. Soldiers currently enrolled and participating in courses approved for tuition assistance are not affected and will be allowed to complete current course(s) enrollment.

Soldiers can continue to access their GI Bill benefits, if applicable (either the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) or the Post 9/11 GI Bill), or use another funding sources (i.e. grants, scholarships, or Army National Guard Soldiers using state Tuition Assistance). Soldiers should be encouraged to contact their local education centers for additional information. Updated information will also be posted to www.goarmyed.com

The Army understands the impacts of this decision and will re-assess as the fiscal situation matures.

Wouldn't want to help those who make a country free.
Some times I wonder if the bean counters actually get the true cost of the decisions that they make.
A well rounded soldier is a great asset, and they can pass their knowledge on to others.
This will just make recruitment that much harder.
Politcians and bean counters need to get out more and see the real world.

Please email that to me at shipley4249@gmail.com Please. I need that for a kid that's too immature to consider all the options of enrollment, etc and just wants to leap without making an informed choice. he's seeing a recruiter today. I have no problem with enlisting but he needs to have his head screwed on past the "I'm 17 yrs old and know what I'm doing point"

Sounds right.
Everyone knows that crime goes up as people are affected by the bad economy.
The reason it doesn't show up in the statistics is because they have stretched the poor LEO so thin that they can't respond to the "minor " stuff.
People then just don't report it because they feel there's no use.
If crime is down, how come the jails are so full?

How come we never hear...
Do to buget constraints. The congress and the Senate are going to take a reduction in retirement and health care benifits..and a 10% pay reduction ?

Why arnt the congress and senate on social security? If it is good enough for the people it should be good enough for them...

Was it the Morgan Stanley gang that took the bail out, bought a new jet, snd gave themselves raises?
