No problem, and no offense intended. EMTs in the boonies probably get more training than ones in a city. Also since we are all rural we actually know, go to church with, etc our EMTs. When you are in a county of maybe 20K peeps, that can happen.

Otherwise...begin the EMT vs Medic EMF

On a completely different subject...after some 90 miles of trails and rock climbing on an atv my testicles feel like they've been hammered out flat against a gas tank of all things. I know why those old timers walked on bow legs and its not just horse riding.

Unless you're doing compressions and can use the extra muscle, they're really of no use to anyone in the ER.

But anyway.. Hey yall. Hows everything going?
I'm not in ther ER - and our paramedics respond to all codes... So when anything happens in the hospital they're there and bulldozing everyone else over.... I'm sure the policies and what-not vary from hospital to hospital...

And to the bolded part - I AGREE! That's why I stated they should do their thing and let us do ours - not come and stomp all over our territory and then leave us to pick up all the pieces... I don't know.

Well, now, not too bad. Trying to resume paperwork... How's your evening going?

No need to get offended over it. I clearly discluded you from the beginning and even in my other rant stated that I know I was generalizing and not EVERYONE is like that.

Anyways... 'night!

....

Sorry y'all... Obviously I started a bad/touchy subject...

Understandable. And that makes sense. .. Though I don't think there should be a debate started or anything. Between Phil and I... We're making them drop like flies.

Yeah, for sure policies differ. At my hospital, medics definitely DO NOT respond to codes in the hospital. A two man team from the MICU (usually the charge nurse and admitting nurse), a respiratory therapist, the RT supervisor, the on call resident for the service, and maybe the mid or upper level resident (depending on what else is going on) respond to codes. Nobody else. If someone came in trying to bulldoze through a code here, they'd get their ass beat.

Same for us, paramedics bring us the patient helps us transfer them beds, short report and they are gone.

I'm trying to come up with something absurdly offensive to change the subject but for once I'm stymied. LOL

We have things like that where for the different codes different "teams" respond, but the paramedics - if in the hospital at the time of the code - always respond to all of them (in addition to the teams). I'm sure in a Code Blue (pt. crashing) they would have to be better about not rushing into it as there would be the whole crash team there and all over the pt. already....

Our Paramedics are also, in a sense, our "Hospital Police" on the night shift.

... And, in all fairness, I'll admit I have a some beef with one of them (not one of the ones I interacted with tonight) because he's written me up twice - but I think that guy is just out to get me for some reason....

Park your jeep on his car or use your winch to flip his upside down. I actually did that with a clunker pickup. I was totally awed.

Not really. We're all supposed to be friends. In all seriousness I go riding with someone I like for them to think I'll be there for them in every capacity I can fill and vice versa. Its an outdoorsman thing.
