Got that right! And for sure not a 20 ga.

I don't know I think that one would be good for me as a first one... I could hunt partridge like I want but still be able to deer hunt if I want with slugs.

Nice catch. I didn't enlarge the pic to look but it does look like an EoTech to me. Couldn't tell you which one. I'm an aim point guy myself but have been thinking about EoTech.

Nothing wrong with 20ga. I have one. Never shot it because its an heirloom but still nothing wrong with it. Remember 50% of how well you shoot is you take on just the ascetics of the gun. If you don't like the way it looks or you think it's to much for you then you won't shoot well. Just my opinion.

In all seriousness, get a 20ga O/U like that one I showed you. There are definitely cheaper ones out there, though. However, I buy every gun as if I'm going to give it to my kid (if one ever exists).

20ga slugs are just as effective as 12ga slugs for deer. They're enclosed within a sabot so you're likely even shooting the same/similar caliber between the two. Also, an O/U is best for your first gun because shooting clays for practice and reloading is so easy compared to doing it with a pump. If you can't hit a deer or bird in two shots, you're not going to get it in 3.

I just want something that's not too expensive, not too crazy, gives me a few hunting options and I enjoyed the pump so figured that would be a good first shotgun for me to start with
