Naw. See, its like this. We're all family, we all drive jeeps of one sort or another. And we wouldn't give each other such a hard time if we didn't like one another. Cept for Ronnie...he'd taze you and THEN hand you a beer after you shat your pants.

Probably flying if it was to Vegas - though if we end up driving anywhere for vacation I'm forcing her to stop at as many Jeep houses on the way as I can! Hahaha! We'd probably spend more time seeing Jeep people than time actually on vacation!

Many professional offroaders/Crawlers are moving to automatics. A stick offers the ability to control your power better but an auto has many advantages as well. I used to prefer standard transmissions but sitting in hours of traffic killed me on that.

Guess that needs some explaining. There are mormons, and there are MORMONs. Now I'm LDS myself..but a Texas LDS. I drink, smoke, and cuss fluently in 37 languages. Here its all clicky... Jobs are withheld, Opinions are espoused, and if you aren't in the IN crowd..you aren't anywhere.

On the otherhand, if you find the genuine nice people, LDS or otherwise..they'll bust their ass to help you out of a jam, lend you a tractor, you get the drift. But jeepers here that I've found are dicks. And don't bother waving at an unmodified jeep. Just toss some nails in front of them, preferrably welded into caltrops.

Lol sounds like parts of Arkansas except with baptists and not lds.
LDS does have a tendency to be shunned though.

First - if you don't mind me asking... What's LDS? I'm not Savvy on the whole religion thing...

A large majority of Iowa Jeep owners are like that too. There's really not much of a sense of "community" among the Iowa Jeep crowd as there seems to be in other states. This year was the first time I've actually spoken to a multiple Jeep owners (whether I stopped them or they'd come talk to me) - but I've found that the nicest and most intrinsically interested in the conversation were the people from out of state.

Granted A LOT of people stop me in my J-truck wanting to talk about it (and usually ask to buy it - had 3 people offer to buy it in traffic on the same day! ) - but it's not the "Jeep factor" it's more of the "my Dad had on old Jeep truck like that" or "HOLY SH!T that's in amazing condition - how much do you want for it?!" (after telling them it's a '73)

I like that it can safely change gears while the transmission is submerged.

Autos are no fun to drive in my opinion. Plus, the manual driving style is ingrained in my brain or soemthing. Haha! Even when I AM driving an automatic (the GF's Rav4) I'll hear the RPMs increase and then I'll just naturally reach down like I'm going for the shifter or something.

The crazy thing is - the YJ is a 5-speed and my J-truck is a 4-speed (only use 3 gears though) the two are COMPLETELY different shift patterns and I don't even have to think twice anymore to make the transition. What's worse - is when I actually try to think about it I start getting confused, but if I don't think about it everything comes naturally.

Wow did you know that there are over 7,300 main languages (living languages) spoken in the world and over 39,491 sub languages (different dialects)? That's nuts!

I drive the car my left foot keeps looking for a clutch and I park it wherever the stick is in and wonder why I can't get the (#*$ key out.
