Also, I had to use 4LO today and then couldn't shift it back to 4HI or 2. Also had some clanking. Feels like it's still in 4LO even though it's in 2 and doesn't say it's in 4LO anymore...
Actually when you said Preston I was thinking Douglas Preston from the author duo of Preston & Childe.

I'm still having issues with my lockers engaging when I start it up an back it up. Back to the Stealership it goes on the 6th. And my satnav went out.
4L and 4H don't usually stick much. If I just give it a tad of throttle to roll it wherever it sits it will usually then go into gear. Breaking it in I guess. Then out here with the hills and snow I use 4L a lot.

Tried it. Felt like it was still in 4LO. Put it in 1st gear, let the clutch out with no gas and it started creeping forward. Did the same thing for R, going uphill and it crept backward...I'm definitely stuck in 4LO

When you shift the xfer case does it feel like it's actually moving anything inside the xfer case or does the shifter seem to be the only thing that's moving?

Hopefully just the linkage broke.

With the xfer case in N, when you put the tranny in gear it should not go anywhere.

I don't.

I did, it shifted ok and the indicator lights when in 4HI and 4LO work, but it still crawls while in gear and no clutch so it's still stuck.

could be! hopefully, like you and jay have suggested, it's a loose or wonky connection OUTSIDE of the tcase.
