Any of your JK buddies have aftermarket driveshafts? That will be your most difficult task. Unbolting the xfer case from the tranny is just work, remember to drain it first. They are surprisingly not heavy, oh, and undo the most difficult bolts first. If you pull it and take it in it will save you about 1-2 hours of labor, about $160.

Possible Axle bind?

This is a BIG problem with 1st Generation Durangos (I remember if from my Durango) If you went into 4lo you had to be careful because when you shifted back to 2hi, it would get stuck in 4wd without the lights or shifter in the 4wd selection. A lot of times I had to put it in reverse and drive backwards about 50-100ft with the shifter in 2hi, then put it back in first and it would unbind and allow for the linkage to move all the way forward. Strange part is you would never feel it in the shifter. So I got in the habit of when I shift out, I put it in reverse go back a few fet then put it in first and spin (in dirt or mud) to make sure I am in 2hi. Of course my jeep is a different feel so I automatically know.

This is the normal practice for auto hubs, which JK's don't have. If I were in Ronnie's place though I'd run out and try it right now. Go do it Ronnie and let us know.

Yeah, as soon as I finished typing I realized Jeeps don't have auto hubs, but I thought, hell it's worth a shot. Things about vehicles have been figured out using weirder concepts

Unknown. I posted a help thread on the club site. Most of those guys are up early, but not this early.

Pulling it might be quicker than trying to drop it at the dealer too...too many unknowns until the world wakes up.
