Man, I'm actually really hoping I can get that new job and make a lot more money. The YJ "needs" (actually NEEDS nothing) new axles/gearing, transmission and that head upgrade. I don't think I really want to do an engine swap.

Yep, engine swaps are a nightmare. At least for me, I'm not willing to invest that kind of time. If you want more power go get a new JK, 285 hp and it's made of plastic!!

Question for you guys, it was said to do it on my Durango, should I use red or black Rtv silicone on the intake and exhaust gasket?

I thought gold?? Whichever one has the higher temp rating, I think it's black.

The swap itself I feel like would be something I would really enjoy. I like that kind of stuff... But the MONEY is the part that gets me. I was just making the point to him that a V8 is overkill in a Wrangler for 99% of applications.

Naaah... I've driven a JK... I like my YJ. Haha! Plus, if I'm going for HP - with the 4.0L head swap I can get around 200HP and that's without any other tuning upgrades like EFI and what-not. I'm sticking to my trusty Carb though. Just need a better one.

Somehow my YJ already averages the same to better MPG on the highway than my Dad's JK with same size tires...

Yeah iirc it's black, I have some out back, should probably just spend the next few hours cleaning where the old gasket was and letting the intake soak in its bath concoction.

Tom, the Prematex website says to use the copper RTV. Or anything up to 700 deg. F.

Yeah, you use the BLACK... I'm pretty sure there's a special spray kind you're SUPPOSED to use - but I'm pretty sure you can use the black stuff to hold it in place.

That's the reasoning I would use it, just a little to hold it in place, appreciate it keymo. I just didn't feel like remembering, I have insomnia but not as bad as you, I'm almost at my 24 hour mark and after the emotional day I had, I'm breaking down, I'll wait to sleep though

O-O-O-O'Reilly's Auto Parts. If you don't have a gasket you can use the copper RTV by itself, or if you do have a gasket you can get the copper spray.
