Dysfunctional teenagers, their greed, that they know everything and whether to punish them or let them crash and burn on their own.

I have no experience with teenagers, so I won't have too much to say

You know, its funny. I grew up on a farm. I worked for my dad. Was driving a stick when I was 12. Got a job at 14. I did chores. (I'm on a rant, think of you as my support group). I would wax and polish a 67 Cadillac calais knowing that someday I would have the privelege of driving it. My children grew up doing chores. They had responsibilities, then my step kids as well. They earned and were given respect. For the most part they grew up to be fine young men and women. My new stepson never volunteers to do anything. He's lazy, his father ignored him until he was threatened with an amendment to the divorce decree to pay more child support. So he bought the boy off with the promise of a car. Ran away in the middle of the night with his dad. Did it again this last weekend. The only reason we know now was to come get his xbox and a laptop <(which was mine). We had give the xbox away to a poor family. The laptop stowed away hidden. Now he isn't so happy that his father is chastising him about his failing grades.

Sorry. Easy to feel like a failure even though you've only know the lad for 7 months trying to instill a lifetime of fathering from your own kids to one that never knew a dad who ignored him using his job as an excuse.

It's a tough call... but then again if you keep at it little by litte he may still see the wisdom in what you're trying to teach him. It's got to be tough bro. I feel for you

At least you can take some pride in the fact that you're stepping up to try and teach this young man...

You man-ed up and took on the job. Lot of other bros out there would have run away...

So I therefor delcare that Rainy is the MAN! (just trying to get you to laugh a lil...)

LOL
I have snow, a jeep covered in stucco, and its packed to go camping. Since my GF's daughter is here I might take off and go to three peaks tomorrow. See my kids. Oh, Three peaks is where they sometimes hold UROC climbing events.

Ditto. I was 2 1/2 born in Lubbock, TX when the tornado took out most of downtown. Interesting story about the 20 story metro tower that even kidrock doesn't know but thats another advent. Growing up in Floydada-west texas panhandle we would watch thunderstorms since we lived on the edge of town and I've seen my share touch down. Later I got a job chasing the damn things. Stuck one out under an overpass. Another we got out of..of all things a 1978 Lincoln Continental while hiding in a drainage culvert. It spun my car around. lol. No sophisticated equipment back then. Just a CB radio.

Get the right tornado and you can relocate to a better neighborhood free of charge. Just have too hook up power and water.
