I had to pull my axle shaft today. Was headed out of town, noticed a vibration. Found 2-3 inches of play in the front driveshaft. Turned around, came home, put her on the lift at a buddy's and found my passenger side axle joint was almost snapped. Hope that's it, feels like a pinion gear problem, but I'm praying its not. We'll see tomorrow when I finish it.

Well I was talkin to my jeep buddy who owns his own shop (ironically I was headed to his house 2.5 hours away when it started breaking) and he said that if the axle joint is loose enough, it can cause play in the DS with the 4:1 ratio. So, not gonna pull the diff, just slap a new axle joint in, slap a new hub on and be done. And see if it gives me problems afterwards
