Oh ruger is an excellent brand. They make firearms on the same level as glock and smith & wesson, without paying for the name!

I can get a s&w 9 for 329....same setup. It has an internal hammer, vs the external hammer of the ruger. Which would you recommend?

You can't make a statement like that and then not follow up! That's something Tony would do.

Well I have a s&w m&p9 that I carry, and I LOVE. I must tell you, if you can get a s&w m&p9 for $329. Buy both of them!!!!! I paid $549.99+tax for my m&p. So $329 is a hell of a deal!!

And the ruger is hammer, is it a double tap trigger? Meaning you can pull the hammer back and fire twice, or is it a single fire? I personally love my s&w m&p9. Semi-auto and easy to control.

Both are good weapons. I would take time to go to the gun store and put both in your hands to see which feels better in your hands.

The s&w isn't the m&p. The difference is the interchangeable grips, right?

Since I have never owned one, its a money thing. I figure those brands at those prices, I can't go wrong.

There are a few other differences as well you'll never notice. Both the ruger and s&w are great weapons for that money. I would now put both in your hands and see what feels right and what will be easier to control in yiur hands. And use that to make you're final decision. Everyone will tell you all these other brands you aren't considering and how they are much better. Its not ALL about the gun. Stick in the price range you want, and buy the weapon that you like, and feels right in your hand. Then buy it, and go out and practice with it!
