Later Nighters, Unite!

So I got a place figured out for delivery today... Now all that's left is for the hauler to go and ACTUALLY get my truck for me. I really hope he's back by Friday...

How far away is it? If it is there by friday you should have a fun weekend.

Well, it's in Ohio... Which is an 11-ish hour drive from where I live.
Sadly, I have to work the entire weekend... BUT I have Friday night off, so getting it Friday could make it a fun night! Haha!

Good Morning, James!
Hahaha! I agree with the Christmas comment! It's almost all I can think about!
I think the hauler guy was getting annoyed with me today, and that's why he wouldn't give me an actual delivery schedule... I called him like 5 different times giving/asking information.

Give the guy an extra tip if you think you bugged him. I'd like to find a nice 85-ish blazer/jimmy or a mid 70's Scout II, might even sell the harley for one of those...

Haha! I'm going through the same company my Dad's company uses to haul heavy/expensive equipment... So I'd hope/think that they would be careful with my truck. It'd look bad on their company's part.

I don't think I pissed him off necessarily... I just think he was getting annoyed with me calling because I called him like 5 times in a few hours. By the last few calls he was like: "Oh, you again. The Jeep truck, right?"

Oh, I will be! How much do you guys think that a reasonable tip would be for that kind of a drive? I'm thinking he has to travel at least 20 hours total (though I'm not sure where he will be originally departing from to get TO the truck...)

Go with the Scout II! Those things look pretty awesome! I looked them up for a short period of time when I started looking for an old Jeep truck. It was tough... In the end I decided I liked the "open bed" of a truck rather than the "closed bed" you'd get with the Scout.. Plus, it was made to compete with Jeep - I can't be supporting the competition! Haha!

How's your tire spacer-mount thingy holding up so far, James??

Holding up really. Not worried about the spacer. Its not gonna break guaranteed. I need a bumper and swing away tire carrier.

$40 would be good, maybe I'm cheap??

Here's the thing, I learned to drive in a '71 scout II and my first vehicle was my dad's '75 Blazer that we took all of our family vacations in. They both have a special place in my heart but I like the amount of room in the blazer.

AND I can put a 500 hp LQ4 in the blazer w/o much modification. On the other hand the IH isn't seen every day.

Well, that's good to hear! I thought it looked pretty solid - but I thought I'd ask.

Me too! I've made a list (and tried to organize it by priority) on what all I wanted/needed to do to my YJ and the J4000 today... Needless to say, I have A LOT of projects ahead of me... And sadly, they're all fairly expensive. Hahaha!

Okay then. We are close. I was thinking a $100 tip would be MORE than enough. I actually was thinking about it a lot and kept bouncing between $100 tip or NO tip ( I mean, c'mon, it IS his job...) but I think I might go somewhere around $50 or something - unless this seems stingy...? Haha!

Ahhh! I can see why you'd want a Scout then. I wasn't saying they were bad cars - there's actually a few still running around here in town and with the exception of one of them, all seem to be completely stock and "un-restored" - that speaks for the quality of the vehicle itself. It sounds like the Blazer would have more sentimental value for ya'... Have you done any looking into either of them recently? Are you looking for a project, or bought already "prettied up"?

Like $700... It probably would've cost me around $500 in gas to get there and back if I were to transport it myself AND I don't have to spend DAYS driving - so I figured it was a good price. (Plus, the guy was originally asking $3,500 for it, so after talking him down to $2,800, I'm staying right at original price)
I got quotes from a few other places for anywhere from $400 to $900. Everywhere I got quotes from were telling me "we are the best" and "Don't trust so-and-so"... It got pretty frustrating.
The company I chose seemed like a happy medium price-wise - insure their shipments and was a known, reliable company that my Dad's company had used MANY times before and he had no complaints.

How the work tonight? Doing any more fabrications?
I think you should try and look up swing-arm fabrications... I'd totally pay you to make me one! (As long as it's cheaper than the ones you can buy online! Haha!)

They actually both have a huge sentimental value, forgot to mention it was my grandfathers scout. It just depend on what turns up, I'm in no hurry. I'd like to find one that is colse to stock but has been in the SW most of it's life - I don't want too big of a project.

If I could have bought a new Chevy SUV with a straight axle I would have done that. As long as it wasn't priced like a new Tahoe!

I think if you hand the guy a $50 he'll forget about the "bugging".

About doing the swing-arm tire-mount? It'd be REALLY cool! If I had welding equipment (and knew how to weld well) I would try and make one myself! I'd aslo make some new bumpers/brush guard for my J4000.

I'm sorry to hear it's busy. Hopefully it calms down a little for ya'.
Tonight is pretty slow for me - the unit is full and there aren't any psychotic or needy patients right now...

I wasn;t sure what to expect or think of the pricing other than looking at the averages of all the quotes... I've never had anything hauled for me before.

Never done that either. But with the price of gas and loss of work. Doesn't seem bad at all.

When you start buying big boy toys they cost a little more, same concept just bigger, noisier, and more expensive.

Men stop maturing at age 8! When I was 8 I liked to go ride bikes with my friends, 30 years later and that's still all I wanna do.

That's what I was thinking. Either way, it's worth it - I get a "new" truck! Haha!

I think I'm slowly starting to discover this the more into working on my YJ I get. I can only imagine what everything is going to cost for what I want to do to the turck!

Haha! My tastes have matured a little since I was younger - though I'm not too upset about it. I used to be OBSESSED with building things out of legos and building model cars... Now I'm into the real thing.

Does the server always seem to "go down" at the same time each night for you guys? For me it seems like from about 4AM until around 430AM I can never access WF... But then after 430 everything works fine again...

NO WAY! Haha! The YJ is MINE! No one drives it but me! (Seriously...)
(Plus, she can't drive a stick - and once I get rid of my S-10 ALL of my vehicles will be manuals. (YAY!))

She actually just "got" a new car too. I don't know if it was inspired by me getting my truck or not, but yesterday she went into Toyota and leased (that's why I say "got") a brand new Rav-4...
She WAS leasing a Carolla and they gave her some deal for renewing her lease early...? I'm not sure. I hate leasing. And I kind of dislike Rav-4's... But she likes them. So I just let her do whatever.

Here's something REALLY exciting that I was thinking about earlier in the week:
I officially own ALL of MY dream vehicles!

Haha! What? Picked up a payment?? Are you talking about the Rav-4, or are you talking about the fabricating stuff?

By the way - what have you found out tonight about that? I'm interested in what you've heard/talked about!

EDIT:
OH! Are you talking about the Rubi?
