Usually late at night i'm playing Battlefield 3 with some friends on the PS3. I run as support class alot so i can play with C4 to my hearts content. (for the uninitiated, there are 4 different infantry classes in the game. Assault, engineer, support, and camping sniper..oops i mean recon.) My favorite tactic involves putting c4 on a buggy and driving it into a tank and blowing it to bits, this tactic is called (forgive my language) Jihad Jeep.

Here is a youtube vid that illustrates this tactic nicely:

Dag yo! That kind of sucks... I'm sorry, man... I get a night off tomorrow.. But then I work all weekend and the beginning of the week...

Glad it's going good - so far! (Knocked on the desk for ya'! )

OH! Exciting news! The hauler will be picking up my truck tomorrow (OR today, depending on where you are and how you look at it) and will be dropping it off to me at NOON on SATURDAY!
I work at 7PM Saturday - so I wont get to fully enjoy it that night BUT y'all will be getting pictures FOR SURE!
(And probably a video of it starting up and a walk-around of it... )

Just put a plastic tabletop conveyor back togather. It had a little attitude. And made me have to work tonight.

Hahaha! Hopefully that's all or most of the work you have to do tonight!

Have you put any more consideration into the swing-arm tire-mount? I must admit, I totally forgot to try and look up the other thread you were reading before I left work yesterday...
I may try looking it up here soon... It's a pretty quiet night on the unit.

Yes actually thinking about building one. Thinking of a way i can incorporate it into the stock bumper for now. Dont want a custom bumper on the back and stock on the front. Not enough money right now to just buy two bumpers. But maybe will end up doing that anyway? Jeep =just empty every pocket....

Interesting... Do you think that there would be a way to have it attached to the bumper and still have it swing out? Or would you have it swing down?
You gotta' get the aftermarket bumpers! Haha! Actually, the stock doesn't look too bad on Rubis... YJs looked BAD. REALLY I like the tubular bumpers on Jeeps myself, though.
Hahaha! That seems to be the way with Jeeps! I'm ready to be SUPER poor now that I'll have TWO Jeeps!
(Though, I'm thinking the YJ will still be the more expensive of the two...)

Dont know about that. If you add parts to one jeep the other one might get jealous. Might turn into a long lasting cycle of building two jeeps...rofl:

Haha! Ironically, that's what the boss said to me when I told her I wasn't going to do any "upgrades" (like lift it or get bigger tires) to the truck and she was like: "Whatever! I'm sure you'll find just as many things to do to it as your Jeep. Probably more, since you want to have it be your beater/off-road truck!"
(Still debating how much of a "beater" the J4000 will be - though I AM going to take it off-road FOR SURE!)

You're right though. I'm finding myself spending a night looking up one thing for the YJ and then I'll spend another night looking up something for the truck...
I need a "Jeep Job" - a job that's income strictly pays for my Jeep-related expenses. I don't think my current job can handle everything. Haha!

Sorry, I was reading up on V8 engines (I've only really worked with my YJ's 258 I6) since my J4000 will have a 360 V8...
Though it's been mainly HEI stuff... I'm debating more and more if I want to get an HEI distributor and new ignition control module for the YJ before I do the J4000... It's sounding like it'd improve it's performance significantly - though the Team Rush itself showed improvements, I think if I went all out with a HEI I'd be happier.
Maybe I'll just save up and go HEI for both at the same time! Like you said, I'd hate for one of my Jeeps to get jealous or something.

What have you been up to, my man?

Ahhh... I see I see... Has it slowed down significantly at work tonight? What did you end up figuring out/deciding on the swing-arm wheel-mount on the bumper??
I'm bored too... I was really hoping I'd be the one to get to go home - slept less than an hour today (which is bad, even for me) Needless to say, I made coffee a while ago. Haha!

Do you know much about the HEI distributor and ignition module upgrade stuff??

Ah! What have you been reading about then?

I agree with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy... But this year I finally got into the mechanical side of my YJ and noticed A LOT of things were either hooked up wrong or in some cases weren't hooked up at all. For YEARS I thought my Jeep ran fine, but after correcting the lines and what-not the improvement was so ridiculous (but still had some pinging and misfiring) that now I have the "I want my 1989 Jeep to run like a brand new Jeep" mindset.. Haha! I Nuttered my Jeep and did the "Team Rush" upgrade (without getting a CDI module or any of that fancy stuff - basically just gave it the early 80's Ford-style Distributor). These COMPLETELY eliminated my pinging AND the misfiring... But now I'm having some troubles with the carb adjustment (smells like it's running rich no matter what I do). I think I'm just rambling now...

Anyway, back to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" - the HEI upgrades and Ignition Control upgrades wouldn't really be for performance-sake (though they couldn't hurt) for the J4000 but would mainly be for reliability's sake... I've heard/read that the FSJs (Full Sized Jeeps) tended to have weak ignition control modules that were prone to fail... So having something reliable (especially since I'll be REALLY counting on my truck in the winter) would be ideal...

The YJ has been INCREDIBLY reliable ever since I removed my computer and did the "Team Rush" on it, but the carb issues are pissing me off. BUT I LOVE carbs - so I'm thinking a new Motorcraft 2150 or something might be something I should look into getting... The stock Carters are kind of terrible... Not to mention the PO took MY YJ's Carter off of a 1972 Dodge Truck...

So I guess maaaaaybe I should get a new carb setup for the YJ and then the HEI/Ignition stuff for the J4000 - Gotta' keep it fair, right?

Hahaha! I agree... I'm actually thinking about asking for the Carb. as a Christmas gift or something... Or even going to a junkyard and finding an old one. I took apart, cleaned and put back together my old Carter, so doing the same to a Motorcraft 2150 wouldn't be much more difficult, or at least I wouldn't think so... I heard you can get old Motorcraft 2150s from the junkyard for less than $50.. A BRAND NEW Motorcraft 2150 is like $300... It might be worth it.

The J4000's upgrades probably aren't necessary either - unless I start having problems with it failing... But in total for what I want it'll probably be around $300 for the setup as well. Could go cheaper - but if I'm putting the time and money into it already, I wanna' get something that's at least mid-to-high grade in quality. So I'll probably hold off on that for now as well... Though it is SO TEMPTING... I'm pretty sure I'll spend the first week of ownership trying to figure out the engine and seeing what all I can do to it... It's just the way I am.

Work still slow? What threads are you looking into? I may try to read them as well... I need to stop looking at things that are going to cost me money...

Hahaha! There's a "Late Night" thread AND a "Can't Sleep" thread?? Funny! Is the Can't sleep thread a lot more active than Late night? Sadly, there only seems to be like 3 of us that consistently post on here...

Speaking of which... Have you heard from Dale at all? I feel like he hasn't been on (or at least on this thread) for AGES!

I was looking more into the TFI thing for the YJ - just to make sure what all I needed to do to complete it and found out that I actually have done everything I can OTHER than installing an aftermarket coil and a CDI module... So I don't think I'll be going any further than that with the YJ... So a carb. is definitely going to be my next "performance upgrade."

I can't help myself... I'm probably going to look more into the HEI or even if I can do the TFI on the J4000.

Ahhh... I won't crash the party. I'm getting really into this V8 research right now anyway... It's crazy how similar the V8 and I6's are... I mean, other than the piston angle and a few other minor details they seem pretty much the same to me (other than the obvious size difference and positioning of course). I could do an equivalent to the TFI I did to my YJ but make sure I replace the coil and I'd be SOLID. Further research proved that it isn't the Ignition Module itself that was prone to failure, but the COIL - wouldn't get enough charge/couldn't store enough charge... So as long as I upgrade the COIL and then the typical TFI stuff, I won't even need to spend the $300ish it'd take for the HEI... Everything I'd need for the TFI is around or less than $100 total - so I might as well start there anyway. If things start failing on me, THEN I'll start looking into HEI components.

I wonder... Maybe he did switch shifts on us. I'm a little upset he never said anything to us though! Hahaha! Joking. I'm sure there's a logical reason for why he isn't getting online - I was just a little worried something might've happened to him.. Was going to message him the other day actually, but I didn't wanna' be a nag.

Only a few hours to go, James! Next time I work I'll have my J4000 (HOPEFULLY)! I know you said you work the next 9 days or something.... But I just want to make sure... You work Saturday night, right?

Only a few hours to go, James! Next time I work I'll have my J4000 (HOPEFULLY)! I know you said you work the next 9 days or something.... But I just want to make sure... You work Saturday night, right?
