WORD! The driver said he would give me $4000 on the spot to not unload it so he could take it home with him. It may have been foolish of me, but I told him no. I KNOW I could get about $5K if I did a little fixing up on it - but an even bigger point is: I bought this truck for a reason! Hahaha! I'm not looking to sell it before I've even driven it! Not that I ever plan on selling it in general.

Thanks!

I really like it so far! I'm trying to get a video I took uploaded so you guys can see a walk-around and hear it running!
I dont remember what you paid for it. But for enough of a profit i would of sold it...lmao. except i know you been looking for a while. I dont think phil is going to like you very much...ha ha

Haha! I paid $3575 in total... So it wouldn't have been anything at all. Plus his intention was most likely to sell it for profit himself. Haha! He kept talking about how I got a steal on it. Haha!

Phil miiiiight get a little upset. I'm sure he'll live. When I win the powerball I'll buy all you and Phil your dream Jeeps - and pay for whatever you wanna upgrade!

You really watched it??
It WAS around you! Hahaha! Well, at least closer to you than me...
But I agree! Can't find any old 70's truck (non-restored) in this good of condition around here... I got LUCKY!
I still regret not driving and getting to hang out on the way by though. We could've had some good times! haha!

Louvers are the little slots that are punched in sheet metal for better airflow or strictly cosmetic. They are used on old hot rods quite a bit. See this.

The J4000 looks good! If the aftermarket gauges work you might wanna keep them hooked up for awhile, they might give you a better idea of what's going on than the OEM ones. Might be a good idea to check the compression and the valve adjustment. Good lookin truck, should keep you busy for awhile.

They are indeed! About as good or better condition than my YJ's! They still have quite a bit of life left in them!

EDIT:
This wasn't the tires' fault, but I burned out today on accident the first time I drove it around the block. I tried starting the truck in 2nd (it EASILY can) but didn't give it enough gas initially and it tried to die on me. I paniced and gave it a little more gas than I should have and as I started to move I heard my tires burn out - so I was like "Whatever, might as well keep going", pounded the pedal down and got them to keep burning around the corner and until I needed to shift to third. It was CRAZY! Those tires aren't the knobbiest things in the world, but they sure as hell aren't street tires!

Yes it is indeed! Welcome! Haveing a good night, then?
I wish I was in your shoes right now... Work is kind of dragging - even for being moderately busy...

Oooooh! Okay! I totally forgot all about those! Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks! It's as good if not better than I was expecting. The Speedo is the only one that works of the "stock" gauges... The PO installed a Tach (OEM cluster never had one) which I plan to keep - but mount differently/elsewhere, then a voltmeter (doesn't work) temp gauge (works) and oil pressure gauge (works). Currently without a fuel gauge - but that's not a big deal. I've been doing the "no gas gauge" dance in my YJ for the past 5 years (until this year when I "fixed it" - worked for a month - now it just pegs on full instead of empty ). My plan is to keep all of them in - take the OEM cluster out and clean it up/rebuild it and try to get it working. Then, like you said, watch the aftermarket gauges and see how my OEM ones are working. If I can't get them to work properly, I'll probably just buy a NOS/Replacement OEM-looking gauge cluster and put it in there. I saw a NIIIICE digital one - but it was like $500 <- No thank you. I'll take the NOS for $60.

Nice! That sucks everyone else passed out though.

Thanks man! I appreciate it! They're pretty sweet trucks! I recommend one for sure!
ALMOST as fun as driving the YJ.

I work bankers hours... but when I party it's balls to the wall. I'd be in the pool right now, but no lifeguard on duty and changing into my boardshorts for the 4th time in 12 hrs is a bit much. Lol

Hahaha! I was wondering if you'd look back in the thread or not.
It's WAY good! Haha! I took it for an hour drive after work this morning and it did GREAT! I had to work the Gears for a little bit, but after I got used to it and everything was freed up a little I was driving it in traffic, highway, gravel... Can't wait for it's first off-road adventure!

Will definitely need some chassis saver. and probably a new paint job sometime next year or so... The PO didn't even sand it down before painting... You can see the old paint under the grey layer in the spots it's peeling.

Only complaint is that the gauges don't work... And as I found out today - neither does the speedo. Haha! I had to be going at LEAST 55mph and it was bouncing between 10 and 25mph...
That and a few cosmetic issues - mainly inside the cab- and the truck would be PERFECT! Definitely worth every penny!

Drove it to work tonight - beautiful! It just SOUNDS powerful! I haven't heard an engine like this since back in the day at car shows when old trucks would do burnouts and rev up their engines and what-not. I love this truck!

How was your end-of-week/weekend, Phil??
I'm on break right now since I can't eat after midnight... But I'll be back on after things get settled down again!

The thing about it is, it runs great. If somebody does buy it they won't have to worry about the boat. I just put a high price on it b/c that way if I do sell it, I can tell myself I would've been a fool to say no
