Looking to move to SoCal.

Hey Everybody, My wife and I are looking to move to the SoCal area! We are True New Englander East Coast folks and we are looking for a nice quiet community. I have heard that Glendale is nice and a few other locations. Here is what I am looking for, to start needs to be 1-1 1/2 hrs from LA, close enough to "OHV" areas, small (5k-10k) population, good school system. I have always lived in a coastal community, so if there is a Town closer to the water that would be better.

Thanks for any and all advise.

Sorry I don't know about the coastal or OHV areas but Glendale and that area is becoming very crowded. You may want to look a bit more north in the Santa Clarita area - which is growing (not as crowded as Glendale though) and it would be closer to the Mojave area.
Good luck!!

As a resident of Southern California I feel it is my responsibility to notify you that CA. is currently at full population status. You are welcome to visit, but you are required to take someone with you when you go back home. I will assist in the choosing of the party(ies) that will be leaving with you if you are having trouble deciding on your own. If we are able to get our state population to an acceptable level, you will be put on a list of when you may move here. Currently, the wait list is a short 120 years. Thank you for your understanding.

Jeff

Just kidding, c'mon out here.

I miss my home . I am going to be moving back this summer, I am moving back to most likely temecula or maybe even a little farther south, but I am pretty set on the murrietta/temecula area. It is gorgeous out in SOCAL you will love it.

Too bad you couldn't find a place in Tehachapi, just like the old west/Montana

If you get near the coast--expensive, depends on what you plan to do for living !!

Good luck

Something Jeep related to cosider if moving to SoCal is that there has been a rash of stolen Jeeps out there.
It seems as though they are stealing and stripping them.

You may want to install a hidden kill switch in your Jeep, etch the glass and all that happy hoo-haw just to be on the safe side.

I'm a native Californian. I used to love the place. It's beautiful country. I moved from Nor Cal about 6 years ago. Before you decide to move to the state, check it out a little.

The politics are wacked out libral and the taxes are high. So are the costs of utilities and just wait till you find out how much it costs to register your vehicles.

yeah I have seen a few folks on here posting that thier jeeps had been stolen. This Sucks. I am currently Living the Liberal TAXachusetts now so I know all about the Wacky politics, and High taxs.

Ok as far as Norcal???? If this is simply North of SoCal could you give some more specific locations, ie. Towns.

Thanks Everyone for the suggestions and hopefully when I do Move out there I will someday return to my current location with more then I arrived with. (growing family)

continue the locations. Thanks

Don't tell me you're moving to Cal because of Taxes

I'm not going to compare Northern Cal to Southern Cal. How can you compare ??? Norcal makes the water/ Socal takes the water. Norcal has Mt. Shasta,Yosemite, the Rubicon/Socal has.....LA.

Here, look up the FBI crime report on Pleasanton, Ca. I hear it's nice there.

Come to Texas. that's my suggestion. Cali is full of wackjobs...heck look at the members here

and in Texas, you can shoot the thieves when they try to steal your Jeep. (need a smilie with a gun)

sorry I'm just here to troll this thread. But once you learn you'll find Mid/East Texas.

Yes. SoCal sucks. Sledgehammer, John Bull, Heart Attack Hill, Holcomb Creek, Jackhammer, The Squeeze, Dishpan, Cleghorn...

You might be interested in areas like Upland or Claremont. They are about 1 - 1.5 hrs east of Los Angeles, and you are pretty close to some trails right there. You have Big Cucamonga Trail and Cleghorn Ridge within 15 minutes of you right there. As far as population goes, I don't think anything in the 5-10 k range even exists within a 2 hr drive from LA. Big Bear is probably your best bet for that range, but that's a 2-3 hr drive to LA. But the bonus for Big Bear is that you are literally in some amazing wheeling country already, and it's nice and quiet most of the time.
