I'm a big fan of music and lyrics. Anyone up for lyric trivia? Honor system, no Google. Post some lyrics. Next names the song and band then posts the next set. Obviously the song will have to well known.

Easy start

"Well there's a light in your eyes that keeps shining.
Like a star that can't wait for the night.
I hate to think I've been blinded baby."

I knew it was the Clash, but had to google the song... 1/2 credit?

"Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert

Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
Stumbled down the stairs to meet the day

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and songs that I'd been pickin'
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playing with a can that he was kicking

Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken
And oh it took me back to somethin'
That I'd lost somewhere, somehow along the way"

Sunday morning coming down - Johnny Cash

Give me a word

Guitar Town ~ Steve Earle

Well you wore out your welcome
with random precision
rode on the steel breeze

Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd

And my submission...

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Look's like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

CCR - bad moon rising

Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas
We got eighty feet of the waterline nicely making way
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you
But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away

Southern Cross - Crosby Stills and Nash not sure if Young too.

I didn't see an answer to this so I'll repost.

CSN....no Y on that one

I'm usually pretty good but those lyrics have me stumped...familiar yet can't quite get it. I know I've heard the song, a lot. (couldn't figure it out & that bothered me so, I googled it... I will not answer good one!)

I've done something similar to this and had to post the rule, no new song until an answer is given. If no answer is given within a certain time frame...only the person whose lyrics stumped everyone could post again.

I am the son and the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of the nothing in particular

Rebel souls, deserters we are called
Chose a gun and threw away the sun
Now these towns, they all know our name
Six-gun sound is our claim to fame

Bad company - bad company

There's a local band playing at the seaside pavilion
and I got just enough cash to get us in
And as we are dancing Mary wraps her arms around me
And I can feel the sting of summer on my skin

Anything but mine Kenny Chesney

Kick back, gives the blues a spin
Break out the wine, forget again
Dig down deep, find my stash
Light it up, memory crash
