Frank posted this on our club's site and wanted to share
"After about a month I just got a phone call from my son from Afghanistan. He is well, but conditions where he is are lousy. He said that they are sleeping in tents and at night it's too cold to sleep. He said hopefully in the next week or so they will have some buildings up to sleep in. They have no internet and very little ability to use a phone. He also said that the PX (military Store) that is at their base has been open 5 days out of the last 40 days. He is really looking forward to receiving the magazines that Katherine and I have been collecting for the solders. He is very busy there but the magazines will be a welcomed distraction. He is going to call me back tomorrow (finally) with an address where I can ship then.
Final note... My son's new wife (Tiffany) who is also in Afghanistan has earned her C.A.B. (The army is nothing but acronyms). C.A.B. is a "Combat Action Badge" unfortunately it appears that her job in the military puts her right in the thick of it all.
In any case thanks everyone who has donated magazines for the solders, this is an on going thing so keep them coming. I have 4 big boxes, boxed up and ready to go. I have two boxes ready to go to my son's F.O.B. ( Forward operating base) and two boxes to a Marine who is fighting over in Iraq.
I know this is painfully long so I thought about breaking it up with emoticons but I really couldn't find any to express my emotions right now.... sorry!
Thanks again for the magazines and thanks for reading this... needed to share with my friends,
While I was at work last night, Frank printed out "WranglerForum" stickers, stuck 'em on and boxed 'em up. He'll be taking them to the post ofice Mon. The boxes that we have hold about 40 magazines, so this is a good start.
thanks everyone for their contribution
