Mainly for gun owners

A lot of us have guns, and many of us have MANY guns. So, excluding duty weapons (some here are law enf.) Of the guns you own, if you could only have one gun, which would it be and why?

XD .45 ACP...b/c it's sweet shooting, has reasonable capacity, perfect for self defense, big enough, but not impossible to conceal (with subcompact magazine), and powerful enough to take down medium/large game if I had no other weapon.

It would be between my 2 newer ones, my 1991 winchester 94 ranger model 30-30 never fired NIB, or my new Beretta Px4 Storm .40

If I could only have one, it would be a REALLY hard choice, and I would have to flip a coin, although I would be happy with both. I have a few others, but those are my heavy heavy favorites

No, I refuse to pick only one!
Just like any other tool, each of my guns have a specific use... any really pretty wood.

See me, it would be a hard choice. It would be between my S&W 686 .357mag or my Sig Sauer P229 .40

I think I would take the S&W though. It's powerful, durable, and it will never fail me. My Sig has never but magazines DO go bad so...

If I were limited to just one gun, I'd probably go with something like a 16" AR. Can be used for self defense and hunting from 1-300 yards (and more), ammo and parts are plentiful, mags are easy to find, and they are quite reliable. Handguns are more portable, but the rifle has it in all-around utility.

And woe unto anyone who says I can have just one gun. For he will be inherited by the earth.

Yea, but mags are replaceable and can be stocked. When a revolver jams, most the time your better off tossing it away, especially if shiets hittin the fan and it locks up but, 357mag rev. vs .40 autoloader would sure be a hard choice.. one im glade i will NEVER have to make.

It would be the one I need at the time. All the other ones would be well hidden, since I am only supposed to have one.

I really like my Glock22 however I can shoot just as well with my marlin 30-30 close and semi-long range.

so excluding duty carry I think I would go with the marlin for now... I have near plans for the next purchase.

Have you actual experience? The only people I have heard bitch about the Hi-Points, are the ones that have the high dollar guns...personal experience...shooting at a private range, guy who owns it comes out and says "what the heck is that piece of crap?""That's no gun, THIS is a gun!" (He pulls out a Sig)(he shoots)(keyhole)He exclaims "Damn, I guess I gotta take this back to the gunsmith, again." Then, he proceeded to shoot a whole box of .45 ACP, without a hitch, and said "how much did your pay for this? I want one!" Also, the owners, and staff of the gun store I go to, all own at least one, and suggest, for starter, or budget minded buyers, to have one. Last, but not least, my neighbor, ex Ranger, LEO, member of the SWAT team, has a .40, and the same caliber carbine...

If I could only have one gun it would probably be an M1A or a Saiga in .308. Powerful enough to take any game animal in north America. Good long range capability. powerful enough to punch through things many people would consider cover. High capacity magazines.
They would cover both hunting and self defense very well.
A pistol is what you use to fight back to your rifle.

My Winchester model 1300 has been good to me. I just got my permit to carry about a month ago and I'm thinking about getting an XD 9. Does anyone have any experiance with them? What do you guys think of them? Are they worth the money?

i'm sorta new to the whole gun ownership thing but if i could only own 1 gun, it would probably be an AK-47. powerful, super durable and i'm sure there's plenty of ammo for it to be found. i know it's not the most accurate rifle out there though so i probably won't be doing too much hunting with it so in a scenario where western society is plunged into chaos, i'll be eating a lot of MRE's.

as for my own collection i am the proud new owner of a smith & wesson m&p 9mm:
